What's On My Mind #10

Sep 19, 2021

Hello,

What's On My Mind is a weekly newsletter where I share a variety of subjects, in line with my mission & vision statement, based on my own experiences, and inspired by the stories of others. By doing so I hope to lift a tip of the veil of ignorance that blurs our perception and prevents us from making conscience decisions. Thus, creating awareness and inspiring myself, and others towards individual discovery, and responsibility; personal growth.

" Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity " - Martin Luther King, Jr.

I hope you find them of any use.

Book I have read
Karma - A Yogi's guide to crafting your destiny - Sadhguru

A breath of fresh air. I really needed this lighthearted, sensible view on life and death from a perspective that is relatively new to me. While reading I could sense a feeling of peace within myself, as it empowers the reader in a unique way. No rules to follow but instead it lays out the principles of a path for you to walk upon, or not... in the end it is your karma.

Sadhguru also explains the role of yogi's (coaches) in this perspective. Refering to ancient yogi stories and his own experiences. Again a very sensible, healthy, point of view that also made me rethink my own role.

Karma: the mechanism by which relative existance maintaince itself. Refers to past action: the cause of all bondage. That which bonds one to the body and created tendencies that rule one's life. Law of cause of effect.

" No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path. " - Gautama Buddha

Quote to contemplate on
" When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it -- always. - Mahatma Gandhi

Things you see when you slow down
Every morning is a symbol of rebirth.
Every night is a symbol of death.
Let that determine your actions in between.

Fundamental Highlight - Context
Finding your purpose, give meaning to your life... we have all heard these trendy words. The problem I have with these statements is that it sets the "seeker" on a useless journey ending up with either a livelong search or confusion. It is also dangerous, because through time we have seen that this "purpose" and "meaning" is open for interpretation which can lead to trouble; convincing others you have found the one and only true purpose that all should follow, otherwise...etc..

Instead, the purpose, or meaning, of life is to... live. It is so obvious, yet we always seem forget it. We, humans, have the ability to navigate our own life. This is what separates us from animals. Therefor, I like to focus on giving context to your life. The context of your life is given by your individual skillset that allows you to expand your awareness in your unique way; your reality. In order to find your unique way you need to set yourself on a journey of raising self-awareness. Curiousity is what initiates this journey. Experience is what shapes it.

Give context to your life;
Raising self-awareness --> Self-learning = Self-knowledge = Self-healing = Self-realization

Side note: Don't get me wrong, you don't have to raise self-awareness at all to live your life. Living without raising self-awareness is also creating context; your reality. This reality, however, results in a low quality life of ignorance and victimhood.
