A brand new banking app, One Finance, hit Referral World this week! This is a banking app similar to Cash App, Monzo, and Varo, where you sign up, spend $20 anywhere, and you'll get a $20 signup bonus within a couple of business days (the terms say within 5 days, but a few early-bird referrers received their bonus within 1-2 days).
To trigger the bonus, you just need to sign up and load $20 into your account by connecting your bank, or creating a barcode to scan at Walmart (I'm told the Walmart method loads instantly while the bank transfer is not). Your One account comes with a virtual card (like Monzo) that you can connect to Apple Pay/Google Pay and spend $20+ anywhere Apple/Google Pay is accepted (or wait for your physical debit card to arrive in the mail). This will trigger the bonus, which will hit your account in 1 or more business days (the terms say within 5 business days, but early-bird referrers triggered their bonus and received it in 1-2 days).

A new social sweepstakes/gambling app hit Referral World this week, called Ruby Sweeps. RWN supporter Steven Lugo provided the details, which I'm sharing here, along with his referral info, which I encourage you to use if you decide to sign up.

More Payments and Info from Juno!

I received another $150 from Juno this morning in referral bonuses for folks who signed up through me and opened a Laurel Road account before Juno paused the program in early January (people who have since completed the Laurel Road deposit requirement).
I've been communicating with Juno and confirmed a few things with them:
1) Juno is indeed honoring the $75 signup and $50 referral bonuses for everyone who signed up during the promotion (before it was paused on 1/3/24) AND opened a Laurel Road High Yield Savings account. If you completed these steps but haven't yet deposited $1 or more into your Laurel Road account, you will absolutely want to finish this up so that we can receive our bonuses!

Blue Foundry Hits Referral World, YMMV!
A handful of referrers found a new possible banking bonus opportunity called Blue Foundry. They advertise $25 signup and referral bonuses for opening a personal checking account and depositing $1 or more ($50 bonuses for a business checking account).
So far, only a few people are referring Foundry. I haven't signed up for this one, myself, and based on my research, this may actually only be available for those living in or around New Jersey. I consider this to be TESTING status. You can find a referral link pretty easily by searching "Blue Foundry" on Facebook, Reddit, etc.

Juno Finally Pays Owed Bonuses!
If you signed up for the Juno/Laurel Road promotion at the end of December/early January, great news: Juno has been paying out owed bonuses for the past 1-2 weeks! I received the $400 that I was owed.
The referral program is still paused, meaning they're not taking on new signups now. However, if you signed up but haven't completed the $1 deposit requirement to earn your $75 signup bonus, you will want to do this ASAP. Juno confirmed that they are honoring bonuses for anybody who signed up before they suspended the referral promotion but couldn't complete the process due to Juno suspending it. You will want to do the following ASAP to help ensure you get your signup bonus:

Acorns' "Refer 5, Get $1,300" Promotion

Acorns just started a great new promotion: $5 signup bonus when you sign up for Acorns and invest $5 by 2/24. $5 referral bonuses as well, and if you refer five people by 2/24 who complete these same steps, you'll earn another $1,300 ($1,330 in total)!
Note that Acorns charges a monthly $3 fee after your first 30 days. You can cancel Acorns as soon as you withdraw your bonuses, though I recommend keeping it as they frequently offer generous referral bonuses. To date, I've earned over $3,000 from these promotions!
Be sure to complete all the steps when you sign up, or you won't trigger the bonus.
Be Careful Who You Trust in Referral World!
As you may know, I've been an active member of Referral World for several years now. While I was introduced to a world of signup and referral bonus opportunities, I was also introduced to the world of online scammers. I still remember the first time I got scammed. It was when I started offering pay for Revolut and Acorns. And again, when I started offering pay for Webull.
I put various measures in place to minimize getting scammed by people, including vetting potential signups, ensuring I was asking the right questions before giving them my link, NOT offering any upfront pay, etc. And for the most part, this has served me well.
That said, I've been scammed twice in the past few months for $146.96! I saw a post from someone offering to sell their two Amazon gift cards at a discounted rate. It was someone who typically promoted legitimate apps and bonuses in the referral groups I frequent, and we had agreed that I would only pay a small portion up front ($20) so that she would send me the gift card codes. I would send them the remainder once I verified the codes worked. The codes didn't work, and the scammer strung me along for a week with bogus excuses. Though I thought I'd properly vetted her before interacting with her, I somehow goofed because when I searched her post history again, I found other posts reporting that she had run the same scam on them.
What's perhaps been my worst experience to date is being scammed by a person I truly thought I could trust. She was one of the first people I befriended in Referral World, probably 4-5 years ago. Over the years, we signed up for each other's apps and alerted each other when new opportunities hit Referral World. I bought gift cards from her at face value and immediately reimbursed her the money through Cash App because she asked me for that favor. And we got to know each other on a more personal level. While I communicate with thousands of people regularly about referral topics, this person has been one of just a handful of people I've considered a real friend and trusted without question.
In November 2023, this person told me she has connections to get legit, steep discounts on cell phones straight from Samsung and Apple, and has scored such deals the past few years. She even offered to order me two of these phones (one Samsung Galaxy and one iPhone). Because we'd established this trust over the years, I felt fortunate that she extended this offer to me, never considering that she would take my money and NOT send me the phones. But here we are, three months later, and that's exactly what has happened. This person supposedly has connections with UPS, where she frequently schedules pick-ups for packages she's sending out. But no sooner did I pay her than the excuses started coming in. Excuses like:
"I was so busy, I'm sending the phones out today/tomorrow/this week/this weekend" (multiple variations of this, I've heard them all)
"You're my top priority!"
"UPS didn't pick up the packages; I've opened an investigation."
"UPS advised me not to send anything out until they've concluded the investigation."
"UPS is still investigating. It should be wrapped up next week."
"The weather's been terrible."
"My father died."
"I'm taking care of my mother/my mother died."
"I got sick with the flu."
"I got sick with COVID"
I've been as patient as I can possibly be over the past 3 months. I continued conversing with her about anything and everything so as not to lose our friendship. I expressed my understanding, sympathy, and condolences every time this person rationalized why they have all these connections and are still promoting their apps throughout the week in referral groups, but they still haven't sent the phones they owed me or offered me a refund ($126.96). And on multiple occasions, they've left my messages on read for several days while still promoting their apps.
If this were anybody else in the groups I admin and mod, I would've banned them after the first couple weeks of red flags, being strung along/scammed, and I would've posted them for scamming in case they're also pulling this on others. But because I've had such a good rapport over the years with this person, I've been hoping they'll do the right thing and not destroy our friendship over whatever's happening in their world.
I still hold out a sliver of hope that this person follows through and does the right thing. That said, I've decided that if this person doesn't send out the phones as promised or refund my money by the end of this month, I will cut my losses and chalk her up as just another scammer. This person changed our friendship to a situation were I've had to beg for what I'm owed from her.
The takeaway from this: Be careful who you trust out there in Referral World! Because know matter how much you think you know the person you're doing transactions with, you never really know until they prove you wrong. And being scammed sucks!
