Don't Lose Your Earnings!
If you're a referrer - AKA referral marketer - you may have already experienced this firsthand: Don't let your bonuses sit in your apps!
I say this after reading this post on Reddit last night. The tl;dr version is that Mode - formerly Current) -member accumulated over $500 in seven months. Mode ended up canceling/revoking all this person's earnings and redemptions and are refusing to pay, claiming "we didn't mean for you to earn that much!", and are trying to get away with lowering it to $65. In the comments of that post, some members wrote that they had a similar experience, while other members stated that they've never had such an experience with Mode, perhaps due to withdrawing their earnings regularly.
I've personally had similar experiences with apps like Oxygen ($125) and Step ($60), among others. Both times, I really had to fight them get my earned bonuses back and got my accounts restored after they shut me down and tried to keep my earned bonuses.
Many apps, I would say, are established and have a good history of not pulling stunts like this. But it can happen with any of these apps. My advice to you: if you have an app that you've been racking up bonuses and/or other earnings in, consider withdrawing some/all of it. Because, finding one day that your account suddenly went into review and they're refusing to pay you what you're owed is not fun, trust me!

Ando's $5 Referral Program is back, With a $9 Catch!
Ando, the hugely popular banking and p2p app, had a great $5-$15 signup and referral bonus. They ended it back in June/July. That promotion is back. Sign up, activate your debit card, and you'll get a $5 signup bonus. Deposit $100 and use your debit card 5 times within 45 days of account opening to get an additional $10 bonus. The same amounts apply to referral bonuses.
Upon seeing that this easy referral promotion has returned - for the $5 bonus, anyway - I saw Ando's first "Sustainability Fee" of $8.99 charged to my Ando account on 9/29. This is a monthly fee Ando just started. They'd sent Ando members an email on August 30th, claiming that this fee is to help fight climate change. They also gave a number, 1-844-960-3939, that we could call if we wanted to cancel our accounts before getting charged on 9/30 (interestingly enough, their first charge was 9/29, a day before they stated they'd be applying this charge in that email).
I called the number today and asked if there was any way to have this fee removed. The customer service rep. informed me that if I sign up for their auto insurance policy, they will wave this fee. I politely declined this offer and asked if anything else could be done. The rep then offered to waive the September fee, but informed me that I would still be charged for future months.
While I am excited that the referral promotion is back, I am anything but excited about this fee and gimmick to persuade people to switch insurance companies. I've included my link if you would like to sign up, however I won't otherwise be promoting this app. There are other, better signup and referral bonuses from Aspiration and also several other banking apps that DON'T charge a $9 monthly fee (see my current Featured Bank Bonuses article to get in on those bonuses).

Creative Juice Pays!

Last month, Creative Juice created quite the buzz as they went viral. Their referral promotion: Get a $25 signup bonus when you sign up and spend $1 anywhere using the virtual card. You also get $25 with your first referral. Where the promo is really appealing, is that when you successfully refer 10 people, you get $1,000. Refer 100 people, get $10,000!
The problem with most "New! New! New!" viral apps is that, until they actually pay out, you don't know if they're going to be a fly-by-nighter, shutting down the referral promotion or even shutting down the app, itself. I can confirm that, so far, this is not the case with Creative Juice. Reader Michelle Renee was paid her $25 signup bonus today! See her pay proof below. Michelle confirmed with me that it took the full 30 days - as stated in the terms - to receive the bonus.
