Many thanks. One topic that interests me (I am relatively new so if you already covered it before no need to invest time again) is the benefits.costs of hardware encoding when exporting the project. I have read mostly about NVEC but less about AMD-GPU encoding. I guess basic question 1) does it matter if we use hardware encoding? 2) what are the costs if any? 3) is hardware encoding in NVIDIA significantly better than in AMD and if so, is that a reason to prefer AMD GPU for Davinci?👍

Great question - seriously not many people think of this. I have a couple of videos that might be of benefit and yes - there is a massive difference in encoder quality between the generations of cards. Here is a way I've measured the quality of the renders in the past - www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTOC75OuDnQ2) As you see in the quality numbers above...not a significant cost but the benefit is MUCH faster renders. I like your general thinking though...I'm willing to pay a 10 min penalty if it means I get better output. So far, the hardware renderers have gotten so good...I wouldn't say much diff at all. 3) Historically the NVIDIA (starting around 10xx series) has beat the AMD encoder handily. I have seen some reviews that compared the output between the two and find no real difference these days. To the point of AMD vs Nvidia for resolve, right now the meter is ticked towards NVIDIA. Major driver instability killed off their video editing killer (Radeon VII) and we are waiting for the answer from both of them. Tuesday is new GPU day from Nvidia...we will see what AMD does in response.
