Even The Ferocious Must Rest

Even The Ferocious Must Rest

Jan 03, 2022

In the coming year of the Water Tiger, let's embrace the boldness and courage symbolised by the tiger, as well as the liberation and potential energy of water. The pandemic has shown us again and again the cracks that already existed in our society, and the work that still needs to be done to transform it. I hope over the holiday season you've been able to take a break in your own way, because we can't transform without rest and reflection first.

I also wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support and encouragement of my art practice in the last year. I'm forever energised by people like you who have supported my work in different ways, whether it's financial support, buying a print, or sharing my work with your community.

Some wins this year:

- opened an online shop for the first time and raised a bunch of money for Sisters Inside, Gumtree Greys and the Disability Justice Network
- was part of the I Am Not A Virus project led by Diversity Arts Australia
- had an illustration in the Ox Zine for Red Pocket Press
- got written work and artwork published in Demos Journal
- had a work exhibited at Old Parliament House for Behind The Lines
- got to do commissions for Community Legal Centres NSW, the Disabled and Neurodivergent Workers Alliance, the Migrant Workers Centre and others
- got a grant with Multicultural Arts Victoria for Beyond The Curve to do an art project on POC-led mutual aid

Again, just a massive thank-you to those who've supported my work, and helped me build the confidence to put myself out there and try new things. For ongoing supporters, I'll make this artwork available as a digital download in a separate post.

Here's to 2022 - a year of transformation for the better.
