About Nedaa Elias
Square Kufic Art
As an Arab visual designer and artist, my artwork delves into the cultural and environmental stories of the contemporary Middle East. My concern over the declining use of the Arabic script led me to a deep appreciation for Square Kufic calligraphy—an art form I connected with for its beautiful blend of meticulous craftsmanship and powerful communication. Determined to keep this unique tradition from becoming a lost art or another dead media object, I immersed myself in its history and techniques.
This journey culminated in kashida.org, a platform I created to share, document, and celebrate the enduring relevance of Square Kufic. The platform is free and always will be.
Your support helps keep the website running and allows me to continue researching, documenting, writing, and building tools and resources that make this knowledge accessible to designers, artists, and the wider public. Every contribution directly supports the sustainability of the platform and helps preserve and expand this cultural archive.
