I’m a nomadic writer from Kentucky, USA. I’ve written six books, including an action/thriller novel, a book on self-development, a business management book, and a book of poetry and prose. My most recent work, born from my travels through the Texas Panhandle, is entitled Nowhere Near The Middle: The Life Story of Valerie Doshier. I’ve also been a blogger for more than 10 years, freelancer/ghostwriter for 7. All of my books are on Amazon.
My mission is to encourage others in the pursuit of their own dreams and a life of meaning. I’ve received no formal training when it comes to writing. In fact, I grew up in a blue-collar family and spent twenty years as an automotive technician, and seven years in construction, among other things. Being a self-taught writer, I often use my own story as a way to encourage others to not allow perceived limitations to hold them back from achieving their dreams. YOUR SUPPORT HELPS ME TO CONTINUE THIS WORK! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
In 2018, I experienced a radical reboot of my life. Determined to break the cycle of “crash and burn” that I had endured for years, I set out on a journey of self-transformation that included selling all of my possessions, quitting a job, and going out on the road in pursuit of my dreams and new life experiences. I adventure around the United States, my car filled with my few material possessions, and share my experiences via writing, social media, and my blog at StraightUpLiving.com
I’ve met so many amazing people, seen incredible places of beauty, and believe more than ever in the possibility for everyone to live a wondrous life of meaning, purpose, and fun.
My work here will offer way more behind the scenes stuff, tips and advice, and personal reflections as I navigate my own dream path.
Something I’ve never wanted to do was take what I do regularly, which is give away content, encouragement, and support to others in their dreams, and put it all behind a pay wall.
But I also welcome support because while I give a way lots of things for free, that doesn’t mean it’s free for me. I pay for my own web site, hosting, writing gear, gasoline, accommodations, food—and of course coffee! 😃☕️
I thought this site would be great for those who like what I do and wish to support my work in some way. Thank you for dropping by!
