"Giving it all to God"

..."Let go & give it to God"

This is something that I often get told or I tell myself when I am worrying about something (which recently is a lot!). But... what does that REALLY mean?

As women we are supposed to have it all together, right? We are multitaskers by nature. We can work a full day and still scramble to clean up the house, throw dinner together with less than 5 ingredients, wrestle to get the children out the door. It's not easy to admit to ourselves when we become defeated.

When we come face to face with some of life's hardest issues; health problems, the loss of a loved one, relationship issues, unexpected financial troubles, or (endless other hard hitting life stuff)...We think we can handle it on our own. The TRUTH is... we can't do it alone & that's ok! We were never meant to. You know who can handle it though? God can.

The bible says we should cast all our worries on God, because he loves us.

It should be simple then, right? But its not. It's hard. It's scary. When life hands us the hard stuff, its sparks fear in our hearts & minds. Our thoughts are one of the hardest, near impossible things to control. Our lives are so important to us and we want to protect them. So instead of giving it over to God, we hold on so tightly & instinctively try to fix it ourselves.

How do I grow more in my faith so I can let go and give everything to God?

THE BIBLE

The #1 most important tool of growing in your faith is your BIBLE. Read it. Study it. Pray through it. In the book of Joshua the Lord, instructs him to do just that...

The more we study and learn about who God is, the more we can trust Him with our lives. Reading and studying the bible teaches us about Jesus and everything He has done for us. As we are reading the Holy Spirit fills us and helps us come to a bigger Truth about our lives. We learn about all of God's promises for us (and there are a lot of them!). Our hearts are changed forever. This doesn't mean we will read the bible and instantly become cured of all fear & anxiety. No. Growing in our faith is a process and all processes take time. However, we will eventually know where to turn to & how to ask for help when we need it.

PRAYER

Prayer is non-negotiable. This is a POWERFUL tool of your faith. It's not easy, I struggle with prayer every single day. It's one of those "easier said than done" things of life. BUT...its a beautiful gift from God. So use it. Go to Him. Be BOLD in your prayers. Plead, cry, beg, pour it all out. Don't be shy. Because the beauty of prayer is... God already knows what is in your heart & mind. So don't bother holding anything back, He already knows what you are thinking.

Prayer requires us to humble ourselves. We need to admit we are not strong enough to do anything with out God. This is hard in a world where "nothing can stop you, you've got this" are shoved down our throats every single day. It's hard to admit, that we don't got this. We can't fix everything. We need our Father.

Some of our most honest prayers are going to be the ones where we full heartedly admit that we NEED God & we beg for Him to help us. When we are at our weakest more vulnerable state, that is when the Holy Spirit's strength fills us the most.

GET UP AND SHAKE IT OFF

The bottom line is this, (and yes this is also a message to myself)... no matter what you are facing currently. God loves you. God is LOVE. His will, will be done no matter what evil, spiritual attack, or persecution comes into our lives. At the end of the day, God has got you.
