Apple’s MacBooks are more powerful and battery efficient than ever since the company switched to its own silicon chips. If you want a new MacBook Air, you have two choices: the M1 MacBook Air or the M2 MacBook Air.

Launch Date

M1 MacBook Air → November 2020 at $999 (₹99,900)

M2 MacBook Air → July 2022 at $1,199 (₹1,19,900)

The design is one of the most noticeable variations between the two MacBook Air versions. As the most recent model, Apple changed the look of the M2 MacBook Air to match the revamped 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, which will be released in late 2021. Apple abandoned the wedge shape in favour of an all-aluminum casing with a flat design and consistent thickness. You should still physically secure your MacBook.

The M2 MacBook Air is slimmer and lighter than the M1 variant. It is 0.44 inches taller than its predecessor and weighs 1.24 kg (2.7 pounds), or 45.3 gram (0.1 pounds) less.

The screen bezels have been reduced, allowing the M2 MacBook Air model to gain 0.3-inch diagonal screen real estate. The M2 MacBook has a notch at the top of the display, which houses the FaceTime HD camera, despite its thin bezels. The FaceTime HD camera on the M1 MacBook Air is housed within the top bezel.

Finally, the M2 MacBook Air comes in 4 colors, Silver, Starlight, Space Gray and Midnight.

Other hand, the M1 MacBook Air comes in 3 colors, Silver, Gold, Space Gray.
