Buy Sailing Lucy Te Moananui a coffee

Kia ora! I am Lucy and in 2023 I was the only female skipper entered in the Solo Trans-Tasman Yacht Race, 2023. I sailed one of the smallest vessels in the race with only the very basic of equipment, my Contessa 32, Nerissa K. I was devastated to be one of 4 boats to retire before reaching the finish line due to broken parts in heavy weather. I am planning to participate again in the next race, May 2026. I have decided I will only participate if I can fit Nerissa K with a Hydrovane (self steering windvane with emergency rudder) (and if there are pennies left over, self tailing winches would be nice). My priority item is a huge expense on top of the preparation and race costs.
