December 2020 Solar Eclipse

December 2020 Solar Eclipse

Dec 13, 2020

In one day as of me writing this, we will be closing out eclipse season of 2020 with a total solar eclipse in Sagittarius on December 14th. Let's break just that sentence down a bit:

  1. Eclipses are seen as beginnings and endings. Bookends to time periods in our lives, a way to measure a space in linear time. We could look at this eclipse as an ending of one thing, but all endings also mean a beginning of something else.

  2. Sagittarius. With the sun in Sagittarius, we are being asked to look at our belief systems. The sign of Sagittarius deals a lot with what we believe as far as religion, philosophy, and morals go. The dark side of Sagittarius is it can think it is right and everyone else is wrong (sound familiar in our collective?). Now the direct opposite of Sagittarius is Gemini, which is more of a curious sign. A sign that has an open, childlike mind and questions everything.

On top of this being a solar eclipse, the sun is going to be conjunct the south node (an important point in the sky that the moon crosses, you can google it for more info). The south node is an area where we have already gone through, it's our default settings, it's the way we typically respond to things. The south node is also in Sagittarius, again dealing with our beliefs and thinking it's our way or the highway.

So I would say that this solar eclipse is asking us to really look at our beliefs around everything and ask ourselves where we can open our minds and be curious and childlike. Where can we consider other possibilities and entertain the idea that maybe we are not right or there is another way to view the situation. How can we verify what we believe and know 1000% that this is the truth?

We can also look back to our old stories that we have been telling ourselves and ask if they are true. Have you been telling yourself you are unlovable? You will never be successful? No one likes you? So often we have these negative messages engrained into us from childhood and continue to believe them without questioning WHY we think those things about ourselves. Now is the time to break any negative self talk like this and remember who you really are, a divine light in this world sent here to shine and support others.

Some other questions you could ask yourself right now:

  • What are my beliefs surrounding People of Color, LGBTQ, the police system, our government, and women? Are there places I need to reconsider my beliefs?

  • What are my beliefs around money? Do I think it's a necessary evil? Do I think it's the most important thing in the world? How can I be more at peace with my ideas around money?

  • What are my beliefs around humanity? Do I think most people are good? Do I think everyone is out to get me? Do I live in fear or love?

  • What do I think about jobs and careers? Do I think I have to work hard and trade hours of my life for money in order to survive? Do I believe that certain jobs are respectable and others aren't?

These are big questions that you may or may not have ever asked yourself. Sit with them, don't be afraid of what comes up. Write these questions down and journal and see what comes up for you. Discuss these topics with a friend or someone you trust and see what comes of the conversation. Open your mind and allow yourself to explore these areas.

We are moving into a new earth, a new way of living for the human species and this is the time to let go of all the old ways of thinking. After the eclipse, on December 21, we will be experiencing the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, which is the official start date of the new age! This solar eclipse is preparing us for the beginning of this age and trying to help us examine our beliefs and realize which ones are beneficial for holding on to and which ones we can drop in order to make our journey into the new age that much easier.
