Earlier this month, one of the U2 fans who gets my OTR Vol. 25 newsletter replied with a question:
Hey, Matt! Any chance of offering your exclusive subscriber content on another social media platform in addition to Twitter? I dumped my Twitter account back when it became apparent that Musk was going to buy it. I would love to see the sneak peeks you are sharing but I just can’t bring myself to get back on Twitter.
That wasn't the first time I'd heard something similar; even the fans who are part of my book community on Twitter have suggested going somewhere else might be a good idea. And I totally get it, for all the obvious reasons. So, with some guidance from the fantastic Chris Enns, I've decided to set up a community here on Buy Me a Coffee.
Important: This is not a replacement for the Twitter community, at least not yet. It'll exist alongside that community and I'll support both for as long as it makes sense.
Buy Me A Coffee has a bunch of tools and features that I'll be checking out soon, but for now, my primary reason for setting this up is to provide a non-Twitter venue to offer exclusive content to subscribers ... or "members" as you're called here. You can access that exclusive content by joining the "Backstage Pass" membership program. (Which is different from the "Buy Matt a coffee" thing you'll see at the bottom of this post.)
I'll continue to blog publicly on the book's website. I'll continue to send out a monthly newsletter. I'll continue to pose questions and start conversations in the free Twitter community.
Lastly, I'll continue to offer exclusive content to Twitter subscribers ... and going forward, I'll share the same content with Buy Me a Coffee members.
