Hawaiian Islands made up of 8 small sea islands. I think its similar with Taiwan, beautiful sea island around ocean. And the weather is warm, I can do outdoor activity most of time including night. I ever stay in Oʻahu for 1 month to study English in Global Village.
There are many Japanese people in Oʻahu，most of shops are Japanese and Western style. And in restaurants menu or most of public facilities, are bilingual language with English and Japanese. In Hawaii, many small scooters through the road, and its legal to ride a scooter without wearing safety helmet. And the scene is really different from United Stated mainland although its one of state in United Stated.
In my eyes, its combined with multiple culture both eastern and western, also keep their native local historical culture really well. I feel really relaxing and relieved, because there are big tolerance of cultural diversity, people are friendly, nicely.
During the studying time in Hawaii, I deeply felt the liveliness of western education. The teacher used games or role play to guide the students to inspire English words, let students brainstorming to write short stories, and international students love to ask a lot questions that the teacher could not answer... Compared with Taiwan's spoon-feeding education, providing standard answers, it was a wide variation.
I think its worthy to experience studying overseas with classmates from worldwide. I have broadened my horizon, learning not only language, but also different thought to face life.
