Anne-Maartje Lemereis sent me a beautiful musical atmosphere in the shape of four short piano pieces, miniatures for inspiration for visuals. Usually I take off using animation as a tool, but this time it was not my immediate thought. The approach is to work with nature as a theme, and our place in it. The music pieces Anne created work on me as poetic interpretations of speed, silence and both merciless and peaceful character of nature around us. Following this approach I decided to call the 4 films miniatuurnatuur #1 #2 #3 #4 . (miniature nature) In this second miniature serenity, silence is the leading factor. The slow pace of the paint piece dictates the rhythm of a short moment of one man in nature.
The recording was made in Amsterdam Forest (Amsterdamse Bos) an which is usually a place where many people living in Amsterdam go to find relaxation and joy. At the moment of presenting this film all of us are confined to our houses because of Covid-19. This is another reason why I chose this footage, it helps us remind how much we need nature around us to escape, reload and stay healthy.
