Recently, I started to collaborate with other people to translate the Cypher System for Foundry VTT. It became quickly apparent that we needed a better form of communication than GitHub offered. One hindrance with GitHub is that I can’t tag people unless they either commented on an issue or have already contributed code. I decided on a Discord server and invited all translators. But a Discord server for all that is a bit of overkill, so I decided to invite all people who use the Cypher system to that server, so that we can discuss the future of the system, share self-created gaming resources, and exchange best practices. I also post a dev journal there occasionally, where I report on how I develop the system and what challenges I try to overcome. If that would be something of interest to you, join us!
In the last few days, I also ran into the limitations of the free Discord. I can only upload files up to 8 MB and posts are limited to 2000 characters (which sounds a lot, but really isn’t). That prevented me from uploading a quick screencast of me demonstrating something in Foundry and sharing a longer macro. Discord offers a Nitro subscription, which would allow me to upload larger files and longer posts as well as boosting the server so that other member would benefit a from that as well. For that, I added Memberships here on Buy Me A Coffee, which would allow me to buy a Nitro subscription. As a small token of gratitude, I set up a special role on the Discord server, so that you can wear your support as a badge of honor!
For what I’m doing and how I’d like the community to grow, I will not, however, put anything behind a paywall. That’s why the membership is purely to support me financially a bit. I thank you for your support!
