Well, myplayer.blue has been live for a few weeks now, and happy to report that it's working well for folk, and the feedback has been very positive. People seem especially keen on the fact that the current bitrate and quality are displayed so you can see at a glance if the music that took you by surprise, either positively or negatively 😉, is high or low bitrate.
Interestingly, I've found that quality to my ears is actually more a function of the production than the bitrate - a well produced track at CD quality can often sound much better than higher bitrates, MQA, etc. - while I personally find MQA to provide more detail, again the quality of the production is of paramount importance.
Some new capabilities have been delivered since the first release:
Added the ability to play now, add next or add last while hovering over results in the browse pane, and the ability to remove a song from the playlist
Added the ability to display (automatically via a preference, or manually) large album art for the currently playing song - personally I love album art, and find I leave this option on, especially listening to Radio Paradise who also provide album art for each song
Corrected a screen handling bug if album art is missing, especially while browsing your own library
Adopted a different approach to showing the progress bar, resulting in 15-20x reduction in CPU required for that - important savings if using myplayer.blue on a Smart TV where CPU is typically limited
Added some logic to cope more gracefully with network errors (e.g. home WiFi issues) affecting the connection between myplayer.blue and the devices on your network
Added the ability to Configure Music Services from within the top level Services view
Watch this space for future updates, and I'm always keen to receive feedback and suggestions.....
