SYNOPSIS:

This novella follows a recently bereaved family – twins – who work their property in Queensland. The father took off years ago. No one knew his whereabouts. He re-marries and lives in London. His wife is a money grubbing cow. He dictates his Last Will and Testament to his QC Sir Cedric Parsonby. This man had no idea his client had a family in Australia and does not like his 2nd wife so makes sure the Will is amended without Erwarton’s Buttershutt-Peebles’ knowledge. The client signs the Will and dies after which the Will is read to his wife. She intends to contest the Will when she hears what she believes he owned 20,000 acres in Queensland. The Barrister fails to inform her it was 20,000 square miles!

The Butler to Erwarton is no fan of the wife. Through the solicitor, bank manager and a solicitor in Australia, the Butler leaves the house and travels to the outback. He and the local solicitor hatch a plan to help the twins. Aha – and how you may ask, well it is convoluted but works. 51 pages.

Please enjoy and thank you for reading my work.

EXCERPT:

"Mum and me and Perse worked hard on that land and I'll be damned if someone is going to walk in and take it away. That new dam we put in cost us a small fortune and our steers are getting better ever year with the new breeding stock." Gay's eyes dulled. The thought of leaving the twenty thousand square miles of bush his father bought through his good fortune fossicking for gold down south, was more than he could bear. Not only that, their own dear mother was buried at Concubine Station as were many of his uncles, aunts and cousins and if someone took the place, they might well remove what they considered to be an undesirable burial ground.

"So you reckon we should forget we ever saw the ad?"
