At just 5 days old, it's already her second rocket threat in life. There was alarm during her birth, and then it snowed.
We're not yet ready to leave the hospital, but we're ready for her first shelter. Because that's the reality for our children. They're born during war and involuntarily deprived of a standard "happy childhood."
I don't know what the future holds, but my choice was to stay with my daughter in Ukraine. That means I'll make every effort so that besides a happy childhood, she also becomes a strong, freedom-loving individual who knows what she wants in life.
And something tells me that being Ukrainian in this context will only strengthen her. Because experiencing alarms and seeking shelter before even making it home toughens you.
Especially when you're only 5 days old. Especially when you spend all those 5 days fighting for your life in the universe!
