Shorter Days Ahead

Shorter Days Ahead

Oct 09, 2021

It's that time of year when the days are getting shorter. The cooler weather keeps us indoors more and we are less exposed to sunshine.

I love the fall. It is my favorite season. Unfortunately for me, there is a catch. Depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) creep in. Sunshine is my happy juice and it effects me when it dwindles.

Today was my yearly wakup call. A gloomy cool day and feeling down. Not caring about much about anything and then that knock in my brain saying "Stop it! You know what this is. Time to prepare."

I started a list. Get some new books to read. Dig out your warmer clothes. Buy some new tea for a warm evening drink. Open the darn window shades and let the sun shine in.

My friends, if this strikes a chord then there are things you can do. For some, just learning about it can help you alter your routine (like reading near a window where the sunshine in). Seeing a therapist or doctor can be life-changing. There are meds and special lamps that act like sunshine etc.

May we smile and laugh so much it annoys everyone around us.

Darn, it just started to rain. Where the hell is my chocolate!
