The future of work: Notion, Toggl Hire and Slack

Apr 19, 2021

Work environments have changed over the years. Although most companies continue to operate with traditional schemes (in office 9 to 5 schedules), the lockdown cause many of them to change the way they work. That is the case of Twitter, where directors told their employees they could work from home indefinitely. Coinbase is another example, as the cryptocurrency company will make working from home a permanent arrangement. Of course, we also have companies that were born with a totally new work scheme, hiring employees who operate fully remote from anywhere in the world such as GitHub, Zapier or Stripe. The way that these companies operate is what is shaping the future of work.

As these new schemes expand around the world, so did the apps that support this remote operation environment. Today we share with you three apps that we think will be leading the future of work.

Let's talk about Notion

Notion is an all-in-one work environment. You can understand Notion as a huge white canvas where you can build a personalized work system specifically for your needs. From a simple To-do-list to a Dashboard for inventory control. From taking notes for school to managing multiple projects.

One of the bests features of this app is that you can very easily assign projects and tasks to your team, therefore tracking progress is also very simple. You can also build a linked system to control all kinds of databases and organize your team as you need.

The best thing about this app is that still in development. So, if we already love Notion features, we'll have a lot to discover in the future.

Hiring Remote? Yes, Toggl is here!

If we can work remotely, why not hire remote? I am not talking about the usual five steps remote interview model in zoom. I am talking about a whole new hiring system created by Toggl.

Toggl Hire will help you to hire smarter. They provide a way to screen candidates through skills tests that map the most relevant skills for each position. Thanks to this system, recruiters save time and focus the hiring on skills and not resumes.

But besides the specific software provided by Toggl in the recruitment field, we also should talk about their own hiring process. If you want to work in Toggl, you should know that they have a Fully Remote policy and a very interesting four steps process.

  1. Skills tests: Of course!

  2. Assignment: they provide you with an assignment for you to understand the needs of the profile

  3. Test Week: you try for 5 days experiencing working with your future possible coworkers.

  4. Leadership interview: you get to meet someone in their leadership team and ask final questions!

As I told you, a very effective and innovative way to hire the best talent in the new work environment!

Slack, a response for effective communication

So far we have talked about planning, organizing and hiring. Now is the turn of Slack, a platform focused on giving you the right tools to communicate effectively with your team.

Slack is not an e-mail platform, it is much more. The Slack system integrates messages, calls, and shared files in a more fluent conversation box. The managers can organize all the communication channels according to their needs, creating central spaces for conversations. You can also collaborate with teams at other companies.

Regarding Data Protection, which can be a sensitive topic, Slack also has something to say. Through their system, you can improve your compliance requirements ensuring only the right people and devices can access information. Additionally, they assure your data protection by their compliance with ISO and APEC Standards and specific certifications such as FINRA, FR, or TISAX.

This is, with no doubt, a faster and smarter way to communicate. And, the good news is that you can also integrate Slack with more than 2.000 services, including Notion!

What to expect?

The only constant is change, so we can expect that these apps improve their services and products in the future, helping to build more efficient work environments. However, even if we are true lovers of Notion, Toggl Hire and Slack, we know that there will be more platforms, systems, and apps appearing in the market and we should stay alert!

As remote works environments will increase, we also should be prepared to transform our traditional working systems and embrace digital tools. We should be aware that to give value to our customers, updating our process to digital has become more of a need than a bonus.
