My name is Lorena. I was born and raised in Brazil, and moved to the US in 2012 to pursue my personal "american dream".
In 2015, I found my passion when I first worked in Healthcare. As a medical interpreter, I could take use of my bilingual proficiency to fill the gap and build a rapport between providers and Portuguese-speaking patients.
In 2018, I became a nurse. I knew I wanted to expand my horizons, and often had the wishful thinking that I could always do more for my patients. As a nurse, I felt like I could not only serve as an interpreter but also have direct contact with patients in dare need.
In March of 2020, the U.S. started taking more strict measures towards social distancing, testing, and overall handling of patients across the healthcare system. Essential workers across the board are feeling overwhelmed, but pushing through to serve those in need.
So far, those in my community have shown so much support and are being extremely kind not only to me but also to my colleagues. And, in response to all the "How can I help?" questions, I've decided to create this page. I honestly don't expect anything from it, but if you really feel like you'd like to help... Buy us a coffee!
