How to live on a farm & have a creative job

May 10, 2021

"If you’re really lucky, that’s what you do for a living. You don’t dig a ditch; you don’t follow a manual, you’re not a cog in the big industrial machine. If you do that kind of work of being a cog in the machine, you’re in trouble because the computer is going to do your job or someone outsourced is going to do your job. So our dream is to do creative work. But creative work is work, first and foremost, means we do it when we don’t feel like it."

Self-sufficiency is the way

Here at the New Dawn Farm we plant beans, manioc, pumpkin, maxixe, lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, corn, lemon, papaya ... Just for our self-sufficiency and even then it is a lot of work.

If we want to make a living from organic farming, we need to be full time farmers, but that would not bring complete satisfaction to our soul.

Tiny Farm Week

We spent a lot of time trying to reconcile life on the farm with work on the internet and the way we found it was to donate 1 week a month of exclusive dedication to the farm.

This little attitude brought us great peace because we are now able to work the amount of hours online and the tiny farm is more in order.

Of course, on the other days of the week we are dedicated to working on the land but only a few hours a day.

Find your balance.

Cheers,

Hanna
