Mistake Of A Lifetime.

Mistake Of A Lifetime.

Jun 27, 2022

Jungkook was outraged. He was so freaking mad that he felt like throwing all of the paintings hanging off the walls, breaking them into pieces and stomping on them.

But of course, he couldn't do any of that. He has a reputation to maintain and besides, other paintings on the wall are not responsible for his ruined one.

The one who is responsible, is standing in front of him. The one who had drawn eyes with a ballpoint pen, on his abstract painting.

Jungkook looked at the man, or rather, the boy, because he didn't look like he's passed his teenage years yet. Who the hell would hire a kid to guard the priceless artifacts like this??

Yes, that would be the man standing next to Jungkook’s ruined painting, with a dismayed look on his face. Mr Min Yoongi, the owner of this gallery.

Next to him stood the curator of the gallery, Mr Jung Hoseok. And it was the first time Jungkook saw the man without the dazzling smile on his face. Jung Hoseok always shined bright like the sun, but now he seemed to be hidden by dark rain clouds.

"How the hell did this happen?" Jungkook's voice had all the warmth of an icicle.

"We sincerely apologize, Mr Jeon." The owner of the gallery started with a regretful voice, but Jungkook just cut the man's words.

"I don't freaking need your apology! You can shove it up your ass for all I care." Jungkook exploded in anger. "Or better, shove it up his ass!"

The younger man was shaking like a leaf right now. He wasn't making any eye contact with anyone in the room and just kept his gaze fixed on his own shoes all this time.

But at Jungkook's outburst, he slowly raised his head up and looked at him. For a second, Jungkook was lost in those eyes. They looked so beautiful, but at the same time, so heartbreaking.

He looked close to tears actually.

"I-I'll p-pay you for the-" the man gulped before continuing. "-for the painting."

"Really?" Jungkook responded in a mocking voice. "You are gonna pay for a painting worth half a million dollars?!"

The man gasped and looked at the curator with horrified eyes, as if to seek confirmation on the said amount. What he saw must have been convincing enough, because when he looked back at Jungkook, his eyes were filled with utter hopelessness.

"M-maybe." It seemed like the man was struggling to stay on his feet even. "M-maybe I can w-work for you. P-pay it l-little by little."

"What work would I possibly have for a kid like you?!"

Jungkook would have yelled some more, if not for the fact that the man fell onto his knees at that moment. He kept his head lowered but Jungkook clearly saw the few drops of tears that fell from his eyes.

"Please.. just p-please let me d-do w-whatever I can. I'm so sorry."

Jungkook groaned in dismay. He was angry, but he was not heartless. He knew for sure that this man does not have that kind of money. Hell, Jungkook wasn't sure if he even had 10 dollars to spare.

Jungkook sighed. "Yeah, whatever. I have no use of you."

Jungkook groaned as he got up from the bed. He had tried to ignore his doorbell,  which was ringing for the last 5 minutes or so. He thought whoever the idiot was outside, would take the hint and go. But no, the universe seems to hate him these days to give him a break.

Despite having millions under his name, Jungkook still lived in his small apartment. He loved the familiarity and calmness it brought. He had moved there with his first bit of success as an artist, so it always felt special.

Jungkook opened the door, ready to blast the person bothering him and was surprised to see the boy from the art gallery. He looked different, even more young-ish, in his plain denim pants and white long sleeve shirt.

"G-good morning, Mr Jeon."

Jungkook had to take a few breaths, so that he could stop himself from screaming his head off. "What do you want?"

The man looked around a bit nervously, and Jungkook could see a few neighbors looking at them with curious eyes. Already regretting his decision, even before he made it, Jungkook opened the door wide and let the man in.

He closed the door and turned around to see the man awkwardly standing in his living room, shifting his weight from one leg to another.

"Okay." Jungkook ran a hand over his hand, wanting nothing more than to return to his bed. "Speak."

"My name is Kim Taehyung, Mr Jeon. I'm 20 years old, a 3rd year uni student. First I want to apologize for my mistake. I'm not even going to say why I did that because there's no excuse, except that I must have lost my mind. I'm really, really sorry. I don't have money to pay for the painting now, and I sincerely doubt I will ever be able to pay it off fully. But still, I would like to offer my services, in any work you want, so that I can at least make a tiny contribution towards it."

Jungkook looked at the man who was shaking due to nervousness but still managed to deliver his speech. If Jungkook had to guess, he would say that the man had practiced it many times.

Not entirely sure of why he would entertain this idea, Jungkook posed his question. "What kind of services can you offer me?"

"Anything, Mr Jeon. I can clean your house, do your laundry, run your errands, walk your dog. Anything that needs to be done. I can be your housekeeper, driver, or assistant. I can try to be your cook too although I'm not very good at cooking, yet. Cause I normally order from outside or leech off from my friends. But I will learn quickly, I promise."

"And how long are you offering these services?"

"Indefinitely, for sure. Although I might not be able to compensate for even one percent of the value of that painting. You can have me till the day I die, Mr Jeon."

Against his better judgment, Jungkook laughed. He laughed at this bizarre situation and even more ridiculous offer. He didn't even need a housekeeper or any other assistant like that. He's used to doing his own work.

But something about the determined face of the younger, made Jungkook reconsider his offer.

"Okay." Jungkook extended his hand for a shake, and the younger one took it with a grateful smile. "It's a deal."

"Mr Jeon, you have an interview with KBS tomorrow at 1.00pm. I've already kept a copy of the questionnaire and the answers prepared by Namjoon hyung so it'll be great if you could go through it today."

Jungkook hummed instead of a reply as he watched the boy walk all over his kitchen. In a mere 3 weeks, Kim Taehyung had successfully invaded Jungkook's life and made a solid place for him there.

Jungkook no longer gets surprised when he sometimes sees Taehyung in his kitchen, preparing his breakfast, at hours as early as six in the morning. Just because Taehyung wanted to take care of Jungkook's meals before he goes to university for an early lecture.

Or when Jungkook comes back from some work to see the younger boy sitting at his dinner table, sometimes with his books all over it, finishing up his homework.

It's a common occurrence to have Taehyung knock on Jungkook's art studio, to remind him that his food is getting cold. Or to silently come and keep a fresh cup of coffee on the table, when Jungkook is busy with his paintings.

His schedules are reminded, few times actually, and the car is always ready on time. His clothes are picked up from the cleaners, his house cleaned and well kept, even the previously neglected flowers in his garden are now in their full beauty.

Taehyung calls Jungkook's manager as Namjoon hyung and already has him on speed dial. Namjoon trusts and relies on Taehyung so much that all Jungkook's schedules and deadlines are communicated to only Taehyung these days. And the younger boy always makes sure that Jungkook is well ahead of them.

At first, Jungkook was a little reluctant to have Taehyung in his life. He was used to being by himself and it had worked well for him all these years. But now, he couldn't help but admit that having the younger boy does make his life much easier. Jungkook can now focus only on his painting and everything else is pretty much taken care of.

Taehyung is polite, friendly, smart and has this positive attitude which makes everyone he meets fall under his charm. He never loses the bright smile on his face and one look at that, and Jungkook can't help but hope for a bright day.

"And I won't be able to come till evening tomorrow since I have an exam but I'll pick up your suit from the dry cleaner today and keep it ready before I go. And-"

"-I can go and pick it tomorrow. You don't have to bother." Jungkook said as he looked up from his plate and Taehyung gave yet another smile at that.

"It's not a bother, Mr Jeon. I already checked with them and they are open till 11.00pm. Plenty of time for me to go. And Namjoon hyung said he could come pick you up too, if you don't feel like driving there."

"I can drive." An involuntary pout came on Jungkook's face. "I always drive."

"Yes, you do, Mr Jeon. I was just mentioning the other option."

Jungkook didn't answer that. The only thing he got to do by himself after Taehyung came into his life was driving the car. The boy offered to be the driver but Jungkook said 'no'.

One, he likes driving by himself. He likes the calmness and relaxed state of mind it brings. Two, he had to go to places at all times of the day and Taehyung is normally at university in the morning. He didn't want the younger boy's studies to get impacted, even though he never voiced that reason to anyone.

One thing that has been bothering Jungkook is the gradually increasing dark circles around Taehyung's eyes. Jungkook knows that the work the younger one does in his house is not that tiring and does not at all require him to lose his sleep.

And he had inquired from Taehyung many times to know that his university work is under control too. Taehyung is indeed a smart student so he has very little to no trouble keeping up with assignments and all.

Taehyung always has his bright smile and bubbly attitude around Jungkook so it's hard to imagine the younger one having any trouble in life. But still, the dark circles under his eyes grew every day, slowly giving Taehyung semi-resemblances of a Panda.

One day, after contemplating for so long, Jungkook decided to ask Taehyung about it.

"Taehyung?"

The younger looked up from the paper he was doing and gave a friendly smile.  "Yes, Mr Jeon? Do you need something?"

"No, just-" Jungkook had to take a second or two to gather his thoughts as he was not exactly sure how to start the conversation. "Do you live in the university dorms or with your family?"

For the first time, Jungkook saw the younger boy's eyes lose its shine. Just for a second though and he was back to his smiling self in the next second.

"University dorms."

"Oh.. your family lives far away?"

"Uhh.." Taehyung scratched the back of his nape with a small smile on his face. "I'm not on speaking terms with my parents. After they kicked me out of the house for being gay. The only relative I have here is my cousin sister."

"Oh.." Suddenly a few things about the boy started to fall in to place in Jungkook's mind. "How are you affording your studies then?"

"I have a partial scholarship and I do part time jobs."

"Part time jobs?"

"Yeah. Like the one at the art gallery."

Jungkook couldn't stop the dreaded feeling in his heart. The job that Taehyung lost due to the incident with Jungkook's painting. And how does the boy have time for part time jobs? He's at Jungkook's house almost all the time except for lectures and sleep.

Or does he..

"Do you still go for part time jobs? Where? When?"

Taehyung looked a little uncomfortable but Jungkook didn't backtrack or avert his gaze. He knows this is kind of an invasion of privacy but he was actually worried about the younger boy.

There was a silence for a few seconds where Taehyung looked as if he'll refuse to answer. But then he sighed and shrugged his shoulders.

"I work the night shift at the local convenience store."

"After leaving here? When the hell do you sleep?!"

Taehyung gave another soft smile. "The shift is till 4.00am and the store is only about 15 minutes from the dorms. It's no big deal."

"But-" Jungkook did a quick mental calculation. "You only get to sleep for 3-4 hours on the best days. Even less when  you have early lectures!"

"That's more than enough. It's all good, Mr Jeon."

Jungkook stared at the boy for a few minutes and Taehyung gradually started to get fidgety at that. He strangely felt as if he was standing in front of his own father, after doing some mischief and waiting to hear what his punishment was.

Taehyung knows he's biting on more than he could chew but what else is he supposed to do? He had to make a living, can't depend on his friends for every little thing. They do so much for him already.

Earlier it was not an issue as he juggled about 2-3 part time jobs per day. But after having the arrangement to be Jungkook's personal butler, he only has time for this one job. That too by sacrificing his sleep.

The silence grew uncomfortable by the second and when Taehyung could take it anymore, he spoke up.

"Mr Jeon, please don't worry-"

"Quit your part time job." Jungkook quickly spoke before Taehyung even finished what he had to say. "I'll pay you for the work you do for me here. It should be able to cover all your expenses."

"Oh no, Mr Jeon. I can't do that. I'm working here to pay off for something that I already owe you. How can I take more money from you."

Jungkook chuckled at that. "Taehyung, we both know you're not gonna pay off the ruined painting's worth by working for me like this. You'll probably need a few lifetimes for that."

Taehyung felt his heart clenched at that. Of course he knew that, he was not stupid. But he hated being in anyone's debt and honestly wanted to pay it off. It felt disheartened that his genuine efforts are belittled like this.

He is doing the best he can. Why can't anyone appreciate him for it? Or even at least acknowledge it? Taehyung felt like crying. No matter how he tries, life is so unfair at times.

His negative thoughts were very much clear on his face and Jungkook rushed to continue with what he had to say.

"But that doesn't change the fact that I like having you work for me. For the past three weeks, my life has been so much easier. You looking after my house and my schedule made me have the freedom to work on my art that I never realised I needed even. And I would like it very much if you could continue to do so."

The range of emotions that passed through Taehyung's face was endearing. From dismay to confusion and then to disbelief and finally a little happiness and pride.

Jungkook couldn't help but smile at that too.

"So let me propose a new deal. Work for me, as you have been doing for the past three weeks, and I'll take care of your studies and other expenses. No more losing sleep. I can't possibly bear to look at those panda eyes for another second."

A teardrop slide passed Taehyung's eye and he quickly wiped it off with the back of his hand. "T-thank you, Mr Jeon. I don't know how to repay you for your kindness."

"What you're currently doing is more than enough. It's a huge help for me. Ask from Namjoon, if you don't believe me. Just focus on your studies now, okay?"

"Yes." Taehyung gave a thankful smile. "Yes, I will, Mr Jeon."

"That boy has been taking good care of you."

Jungkook shifted his gaze away from the window, where he was looking at the morning sky to look back at Namjoon, who seemed to have a knowing smile on his face. "Even your art is getting good."

"Oh.." Jungkook tilted his head to the side. "It wasn't good before?"

"You know that's not what I mean." Namjoon's voice was reproaching. "It has more.. I don't know. Colour, I suppose."

Jungkook turned his attention to the newest painting that he had brought into Namjoon's office.

Yes, it does seem to be a little brighter than Jungkook's usual style. He would have thought that the change is too subtle to be noticed but guess it's not the case, if even Namjoon can see it. The man knows nothing except about finance.

Jungkook was silent for a few minutes and Namjoon didn't disturb him either. Despite being able to paint oceans of emotions on a canvas, Jungkook is rather dense when it comes to his own feelings.

"Are you keeping track of his university expenses?"

Namjoon gave a quick nod before answering. "Yeah. He's term fees and all other dues have been paid. He was falling behind a bit before. And I've made the administration office put me as his sponsor for all future requirements. They will only contact me from now on."

A hint of a smile came onto Jungkook's face. "That's good."

"But are you sure he's okay with it? Did he agree with it?"

Jungkook remembered the first time Taehyung got to know about this arrangement. The younger had gone to request an extension period from the university to pay his term fee, only to be told that it's already paid in full.

That was the first time Jungkook had seen Taehyung hurt and sad. The younger man had only expected to be paid for the work he did, as per the new arrangement, and he had been saving money for the university fees too. He was just a little bit short of cash and was sure he could have it by two more weeks.

He couldn't understand why Jungkook would go ahead and take care of his fees, while paying for his work too.

They had an argument. Well it was more like Taehyung stuttered through his displeasure while Jungkook listened with an intense gaze. At the end of it, Jungkook simply told him that it was already done and not to worry about it anymore. And to make Taehyung feel slightly better, Jungkook cut his pay for the next two weeks.

It was nowhere sufficient for the amount related but Taehyung didn't know how to refuse without being an ungrateful brat.

And when Jungkook explained how he has more than enough money to last a lifetime and that his bank account won't even register the small amount taken for Taehyung's uni fee, Taehyung couldn't help but bow his head and thank.

Another person might have felt bitter or jealous about the situation but Taehyung was not a person like that. Just because he doesn't have something in life, he won't be envious of the fortunate people who do.

"Why are you doing this though?" Jungkook turned to Namjoon and the latter quickly continued with his question. "Don't get me wrong, it's a really good thing to do. I'm just wondering why?"

Jungkook was thinking for a few seconds before answering. "Why shouldn't I do it? I have more money than I need and he was struggling."

"There are plenty of people struggling, Jungkook. People who desperately need some help. But I don't see you offering a hand to anyone else."

"Well I don't know any of them. But I know Taehyung, I just can't turn a blind eye."

"Are you sure it's nothing else?"

Jungkook gave a confused look to Namjoon. "What else could it be?"

"Okay, if you say so."

Namjoon has been Jungkook's manager for over 5 years now. For an outsider, Jungkook is like a mystery, even more so than his paintings. But over the years, Namjoon had learned to read the guy.

And he was sure that something else is there between the two of them, even if Taehyung and Jungkook didn't know it themselves.

"Tae, are you coming for the birthday party tomorrow?"

Taehyung didn't remember who's birthday it was but it still didn't matter.

"I can't. Mr Jeon has a meeting with one of the gallery owners regarding his exhibition and Namjoon hyung asked me to go with him"

Jimin and Jin shared a knowing look between them before Jin spoke up. "Maybe you can come after that. The party is at night."

Taehyung just shook his head. "Meeting is in the evening, and I don't know how long it will last. Besides, I need to arrange his dinner after that."

"Are you sure you two are not married?" Jimin's voice was full of teasing. "You're like this perfect wife."

"Chim!" Taehyung tried to smack his friend's head but Jimin was quick to get out of reach. "You know why I do this. Mr Jeon had done me a great help by not throwing my ass in jail. I'm just trying to repay him in any way I can."

"Tae, that's not your fault-"

"It is, Jin. It's totally, one hundred percent, my fault. And I'll pay for it. I have to. Besides, I don't even feel like I'm being punished. Mr Jeon is treating me way too good."

Other two didn't have anything to say for that. They had reached the cafeteria and Jin was going to buy them lunch. But this time, Taehyung stopped him and offered to buy.

"You guys have always paid for my expenses. Let me get this one."

"It's okay Tae, we know how pressed you are for money."

"Nuh, it's cool. I have some money to spare now."

Both Jin and Jimin looked confused at that. "But, weren't you saving for Uni fees?"

"Uhh..." Taehyung scratched his nape while a shy smile adorned his face. "Mr Jeon paid for it."

The two friends watched as Taehyung went towards the counter to place their orders.

"You know, I think we were wrong about Tae being Mr Jeon's wife." Jimin said with a little laugh and Jin nodded his head.

"Yep, he's Mr Jeon's sugar baby."

________________________________

Jungkook was out with Namjoon today because Taehyung had some personal matters to attend to. They had just finished and were coming back to Namjoon's office, when Jungkook saw a hotdogs seller that he remembered as one of Taehyung's favourites.

The younger one had introduced it to Jungkook one day and he immediately took a liking to it too. Deciding to buy some, Jungkook asked Namjoon to stop the car.

Jungkook got out of the car and was walking towards the stall, when he heard a familiar voice.

"You want a hotdog, princess? Daddy will buy you one okay."

Jungkook snapped his head toward the direction of that voice, and was met with the sight of Kim Taehyung, holding the hand of a little girl.

It took only a few seconds for Taehyung to notice the gaze on him, and he looked up at Jungkook. His happy smile dropped almost immediately and a scared look took its place.

Both Jungkook and Taehyung were staring at each other for about a minute, when the little girl broke the silence.

"Who's this, Daddy?" The girl tugged Taehyung's hand, but the latter couldn't release his gaze from Jungkook's captivating one. "Is he a friend of yours?"

"M-mr J-jeon?"

Jungkook watched as the younger one stuttered. His eyes were wide as possible and he looked like a different person without his usual smile.

Jungkook couldn't help but think about the irony. Guess he didn't know Taehyung at all.

Jungkook's chain of thoughts were disrupted as the little girl tugged on his shirt.

"Hi Mister. I'm Kim Nara." Her smile was so innocent and pretty that Jungkook had to smile in response too. "What's your name?"

"I'm Jeon Jungkook."

"Do you know my Daddy?"

Jungkook sneaked a glance at Taehyung, who was watching this interaction with a scared look on his face.

"No." Jungkook gulped down the uneasiness. "Not as much as I thought, I suppose."

"Oh." The little girl looked troubled for a second but then her face split into a bright smile. "Would you like to be my friend? Daddy and I are going to have hotdogs. Do you wanna come too?"

Jungkook gave a soft laugh and gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind the girl's ear.

"Sorry, darling, I'm a little busy. Thank you for the offer though."

A pout came on to the girl's face, making Jungkook almost pull his words back. Almost.

"Okay." Nara gave a polite bow. You could clearly say it was something she was taught and instructed to do. "It's a pleasure meeting you."

"The pleasure is all mine."

Jungkook gave one last look to Taehyung before turning around and walking back to his car. There was a strange ache in his heart, as if someone was squeezing it with their bare hands.

When Namjoon inquired about the lack of hotdogs, Jungkook only said that he suddenly didn't feel like eating them.

And that was one hundred percent true.

____________________________________

When a knock sounded on his studio door at around 9 in the night, Jungkook wasn't surprised at all. To be honest, he was expecting it much earlier.

"Come in"

The door opened and closed with the minimum sound possible. It was so unusually silent that Jungkook had to look back from his paintings to see if the other person was in the room.

After confirming that yes, Taehyung is indeed the one standing awkwardly near the door, Jungkook turned back to his painting. "Since when do you knock?"

"M-mr Jeon. I-I.. p-please let me.."

Jungkook wanted to turn around but he didn't. "Why are you so nervous, Taehyung? You don't owe me an explanation."

"No, I-"

"Why are you here at this hour? You had the entire day off right."

"Mr Jeon.."

"You should go now, Taehyung. It's very late."

Taehyung couldn't stand the indifference any more. He didn't know why he came at this hour. Just that his heart had been uneasy ever since seeing Jungkook at the hotdog stall. He had to explain, even without knowing why he had to do it exactly.

"She's not my daughter!"

Jungkook's hand slipped over the canvas a bit, making a mark which was not supposed to be on it. He stared at it for a few seconds, before turning around in his chair to look at Taehyung.

"What?"

"Nara." Taehyung gulped a bit in nervousness. "She's not my daughter."

Jungkook tilted his head to the side a bit. "But she called you Daddy."

"With all due respect, Mr Jeon, do I look like a father of a 5 year old?!"

Now that Jungkook thought about it, that does seem rather farfetched. Taehyung was only 20 years old. That means he had to impregnate a girl when he was 14 or 15. Jungkook frowned at that unpleasant thought.

"Yes, she calls me Daddy but... it's complicated."

Jungkook wanted to say that it was not his business but the words refused to come out of his mouth. He waited silently which Taehyung took as a sign to continue.

"She's my cousin's daughter. The one I told you about. When my cousin got pregnant with Nara, her father left them. That asshole didn't want to do anything with a child. My sister was the one who raised her. And I helped whenever I can too. She was my only family."

Jungkook gave a little nod at that. He remembered what Taehyung said about his family.

"And I don't know how or why, but one day, Nara started to call me daddy. Maybe she heard it from the kindergarten or from one of her friends. And I just didn't have the heart to correct her. She'll realise I'm not her father when she grows up."

"And... she's the one who drew eyes on your painting."

That got Jungkook startled. He had honestly forgotten about the whole fiasco with the painting already. "W-what?"

"My cousin gets sick frequently and she had to go to the hospital that night. It was a sudden thing and she couldn't find anyone to look after Nara. It was my first day at the gallery and I couldn't miss it either, so I took her with me."

"She was sleeping and I swear I didn't mean to leave her alone there but I was  given a time table for the security rounds and I had to stick to it. When I came back, she had woken up somehow and went to look for me."

Jungkook felt his heart tug at that. He could clearly remember how hopeless and devastated Taehyung looked on that first day. And he could also remember how he yelled at the younger.

"She said she thought the figures looked sad, because they didn't have eyes to look at the world."

Taehyung had his head slightly lowered this whole time but he now raised it to full and looked straight at Jungkook's eyes. "I-I'm not m-married or have a child. Hell, I never even had a boyfriend yet."

And for the first time after seeing Taehyung at the hotdog stall, Jungkook’s heart was at peace.

And even Taehyung could see that, courtesy of the little smile the elder unknowingly had on his face.

____________________________________

Jungkook opened the door and the first thing he did was frown at his friend-slash-manager. "You're late, hyung."

Namjoon stepped in when Jungkook moved to the side. "Sorry, I got stuck in traffic."

Jungkook ushered the other into the living room and undoubtedly, Namjoon seemed to be the last one to arrive. He quickly spotted Hoseok having a drink, and quickly walked to him. The curator and Namjoon met a few times in relation to Jungkook's art pieces and immediately hit it off.

They were nicely talking when the sound of a glass being tapped with a spoon got their attention.

There stood Jungkook and Taehyung, his beautiful husband.

Taehyung may not have the adorable youthful look he had when Namjoon first saw him about 5 years ago. Instead, he now looked perfectly for the part of this hot-shot lawyer. When both Jungkook and Taehyung are in the same frame, it looks as surreal as a painting itself.

Jungkook had one hand around Taehyung's waist and the other over his daughter, Nara's shoulder. Nara's mother was not in good health and after she passed away, Taehyung and Jungkook adopted the girl. Nara anyway called Taehyung as daddy, so it was rather easy to get her to call Jungkook as 'papa'.

"Thank you, everyone, for coming here to celebrate this special day with us." Jungkook raised his glass and beamed at the crowd before turning to his side to look at Taehyung.

"Taehyung, my love, meeting you was as unexpected as anyone could have ever imagined. It was the most bizarre situation for two lovers to meet but I guess that's what fate is there for. Thank you for coming into my life, and colouring the dullness of it with the brightest colours. I'm not a man of many words, you know that better than anyone, love. So all I can say is, thank you. And I love you so much. Here's to three years of marriage and many more years to come."

Taehyung smiled beautifully before pulling his husband into a kiss, while the crowd clapped and cheered. Yes, Jungkook has never been a one for words. He always shows his feelings through actions.

It was so subtle that Taehyung didn't even realise how Jungkook started calling him Tae instead of Taehyung. But he still remembers the moment Jungkook called him baby for the first time.

It took Taehyung a little more time to change from Mr Jeon to Jungkook and finally settling with Kookie.

It was a gradual change to do Jungkook's household work as a means of paying his debt, to do them as a potential family. Well, Taehyung should have realised it when Jungkook started to cook for Taehyung, and not the other way around.

And now, after 3 years of marriage, Taehyung couldn't imagine his life any other way. Their love story was like a fairytale, only expected to be found in books or dramas.

The thing that played the biggest part in setting them on their path to happily ever after, hung on the best spot on the wall in their living room.

An abstract painting that was initially worth half a million dollars. But with the cute eyes drawn with a ballpoint pen, it was now priceless.
