Immigration status

So I recently came back to the uk on 22nd October 2020 due to some difficult situations in Manila. I had to leave my wife there and come back to London .Problem is my UK residency status has expired , even though I got let in from Heathrow. I've now been told I can't work or gain any access to public funds untill I get either British citizenship or renew my right of abode. I'm currently living with my mother who is on state pension and received very little. She also was the one who bought my flight to London . I could not get a job in Manila and spent all my savings supporting me and my wife during enhanced lockdown. My immigration status is uncertain. So the only way I can support me and my mother and also my wife back in Manila is via donations and any work that I get on fiverr.
