Long Time Traveller

Nov 04, 2020

Our second release from our 'Homegrown Harmony' project is a stunning arrangement of an old Sacred Harp song, Long Time Traveller. The Wailin' Jenny's arranged this tune for 3 women and we loved it! We have sung a Sacred Harp song called, 'Idumea' with all the men in our choir - it's a really robust and exciting way of singing and we wanted to bring a little of that old style into this more gentle women's arrangement. So this is heartier than the Jennys version and we hope you like it. It's sung by Amanda, Helen and Colette in a wood in Plymouth, during half term! We had children playing around us, dogs, fishermen and walkers and we just keep right on singing - apparently you could hear us from over the other side of the lake! Singing live with people listening around us - or not - just making singing a normal part of what happens in open spaces - it's part of the project that we are really loving.

We are raising money for a homeless charity based in Plymouth and Torbay for this song. Again 60% will go to the charity. 'Shekinah Mission' in Plymouth has been working at a grass roots level with people who are homeless and have other issues connected with this, for many years and is an established and vital resource in Plymouth. www.shekinah.co.uk

Our MD, Sandra Smith, met the CEO, John Hamblin when they were both being interviewed for a local radio station. When you meet people who walk their talk - it makes you want to do something to help! This is our small offering - if and when we can get back to concerts, maybe we can do more for them.

Hope you enjoy this song!
