Another shot from last Thursday's storm.
I really wanted to photograph some lightning with this dam in Chartwell in the foreground, but it started raining heavily and I had to run for cover. I did however capture a MASSIVE strike which completely overexposed the shot. I tried to get some of the details back in post editing, but didn't get too far.
As you can tell by the water drops in the dam, the rain was pretty heavy, and it was definitely needed!
I will definitely try and go back to the spot in future to try and capture something.
Please note that I take calculated risks when I go out and photograph these storms, but it is always a risk. Please don't try and take unnecessary risks yourself and always try and remain indoors during thunderstorms. Rather be safe than sorry...
South Africa has magnificent thunderstorms and I am so blessed to be able to capture some of them. We truly have an incredible country.
