Probably, you already know other intensifiers like «гора́здо», «значи́тельно», «намно́го» (considerably, significantly, much, far) going with comparatives. The word «куда́» (being an adverb here) can perform the same function, i.e. can be used to emphasize adjectives or other adverbs in their comparative degree.
For example: Он куда́ опа́снее, чем любо́й друго́й ви́рус. (It is much more dangerous than any other virus.)
