Patchwork Coat (Isolation series continues)

Dec 27, 2020

Hello again!

Despite my rampant ramblings and missed first round spelling mistakes, you're back! For that, I am very happy about :)

Anyways, onto the subject; the coat that is part of my ongoing isolation craft series.

Orginally, I wanted to create a coat that high school me would have absolutely would have loved to create and wear. I also happened to own an old coat that I did wear back in the day. It was the most appropriate base for the project, and considering it was a bit sort on me, what better way to practice working with my machine?

After a bit more digging, I found patches, a summer/beach dress with skulls, the back part of the beginning of a winter coat, and some ruffled fabric.

Altogether, the side quest I really did not make this coat for any other purpose than as to get back onto my machine, and actually make something-practice makes perfect, even if the coat itself is imperfect, right?

In the end, the coat does truly reflect the overall progress I have been making, and I have learned a fair bit along the way.

As I am currently looking over the coat as I write this, I can see some imperfections made along the way; the 4th layer on the back not sewn on as properly outlined in the original draping plan; obviously I did not refer bac to photo references taken before, the result in the hanging of the fabric being closer rather than the ability to move more as the coat moves. That being said, the misdraping doesn't really harm the overall coat functionality. There are still some small parts I need to fix up as well as I take a closer look at it. FOr now I am storing it until its fully complete with the small adjustmets and add ons.

Everything you see on the coat is 100% upcycled. If I were to guess the hours I tool to make this, I would say about 40-60 hours over four days.

Size is medium. not sure if I will sell this but I am not opposed
