The Hike

Jan 22, 2021

"But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” -Haruki Murakami
As I hiked in the mountains of Costa Rica this afternoon, it began to rain. The wind was stronger than most Kansas winds I could remember, and the already damp, leafy grounds became slippery. Despite being alone, I kept on, keeping in mind that at some point, I would come out on the other end.

I kept remembering quotes and felt as if I were walking around in a giant metaphor. Between the paths that I had to choose from and the storm that I knew would pass, I couldn't help but compare it to difficulties we all have in life.

All of us have storms. All of us have paths. But just like the Earth shows us, we will see brighter days. We will have paths that lead us right where we need to be. It's just a matter of believing in yourself and the universe and trusting the timing of life.

Believe it or not, you're right where you need to be.

Enjoy the hike.
