Nicki had not slept in days. She had been calling every hour, on the hour to anyone associated with astronomy in any way. Especially NASA. She had finally been told by a very haggard sounding, government official, that it would be better that the public was not alerted, to the impending likelihood of meteors entering our atmosphere and possibly destroying property.
The government official's words angered Nicki to her core.
When Nicki saw the approach of several large meteor clouds, headed toward earth from different trajectories, she called her friends and passed the word to take shelter from what was coming. Then herself took shelter the morning the meteors started falling to the earth.
Many of her graduate student friends, from other disciplines, came to her shelter below the observatory telescope in the few days before the start of what would become known as the Sky Fall meteor shower among the graduate students.
