I literally started this brand from my bed, I was on bed rest after suffering from a major stroke (April 2018). I started watching YouTube videos on how to make items, with minimum craft items, so I started with flower crowns… the rest, as they say, is history!!
I have always been creative, I get so bored with just doing one thing all the time, my mind is always racing and my notebooks are full of ideas, zany, colourful crazy ideas. I wanted to set up something, that I could do, that made me feel happy, relaxed and could make me money as sadly I lost my job following my stroke, so needed to overcome my feeling of uselessness and being a burden, so I set up The Quirky Cute Boutique. Everything I sold in my shop is handmade and the brand is all mine, soon, I was on the road to recovery.
Setting up my boutique brand was literally my saving grace, I love the brand and I love making people happy with my cute creations. It is so amazing and gives me such a great sense of pride when I see someone wearing one of my head scarves or a pair of my crazy earrings.
For me the brand has always been about being yourself, being different, standing proud of who you are, with your quirky hangups, weird ways of doing things, eccentric dress sense, staying true to your style, being your own kind of beautiful, basically just being YOU!!
You will notice that I cater to everyone, every item has either been handmade, upcycled or redesigned. I adore working with broken jewelry and flowers, since lockdown, I have developed an unhealthy obsession for fabric, (in a good way) and sewing.
I have my own workshop with a fantastic group of creatives who share the building, which is an old steam train shed based in the centre of Altrincham, complete with a ghostly night man, we have named him Bob, we have all seen or heard Bob, I love the fact he is watching over us.
Just before lockdown I applied to turn the studio into a bricks and mortar shop, it was approved, but sadly I have remained shut since March.
My brand is already established on Etsy and I have various Social Media accounts, FB, IG, Tik Tok. I’d really love it if you can open your hearts and share a bit of quirky love for the brand and share our pages with your friends and family.
