Hello there, dearies!
As you may already know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Last year, I launched The Winter Of My Discontent on April 30th (Happy Birthday, to us!!), but I only wrote through May and then I shelved the blog.
At that time, I posted about 10 blog posts. A couple of them were updates, but many of them were a story I was trying to tell...my story about a life of mental illness. At the time, I didn't know about my diagnosis, so all I wrote about was the pain.
After my diagnosis, I decided to start writing again, this time with a new focus. I started writing again in October (for ADHD Awareness Month!) and then really got my sea legs in December. But the first thing I did when I started writing again was archive those original blog posts.
They were extremely personal and deep. They ticked off my greatest hurts and embarrassments. They were hard to write and they gave me bad anxiety.
I only got partway through my story before I gave up on the blog in May.
Fast-forward to today. It's Mental Health Awareness Month again and I really wanted to do something to commemorate one full year of mental health blogging. I wasn't sure if I wanted to drag out those old posts or not.
The Announcement!
Starting this week, I will start posting my story on Buy Me A Coffee for members and supporters.
Not only am I going to post the archived posts from last year, but I'm going to complete the story in brand new, never-before-seen posts.
I will take you through my childhood with an abusive step-parent and my depression-ridden 20s. What happens in my 30s is what changed everything, for good or bad, and you don't want to miss it.
Fair warning, this is raw and real. There is trauma and pain. The subjects that I cover may be triggering, including suicidal ideation and sexual assault.
