The NHS as a “system” will survive because of its staff and their immense dedication and ability to evolve as professionals.
The NHS as a health service will not survive because its healthcare workers; The Doctors, Nurses, HCAs and AHPs will finally realise that not only does this government not value the work that they do and were prepared to allow them to die.
I will be leaving once this is over. I’ve been a nurse for 15 years; I’ve not had a payrise since 2013 and I’ve taken it because I love my job and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else but this pandemic has changed everything.
Nothing is worth risking my life for.
