More about Me!

Jul 17, 2021

So... hi!

First of all, thank you for checking out my Ko-Fi page! You guys can call me Freddie - no, that's not my real name, it's a long story but it's what a fair few of my real life friends call me! So when I made my profile it was either Freddie or Quinn (like KWN?) but I like Freddie more - though Quinn works too if you prefer that.

I'm 19 years old and have a lot of issues with my mental health - mostly anxiety and depression but there's a lot going on in my chemical imbalance. To help me kind of cope with that, I picked up knitting again after having not done it in years and I've found it a good way for me to distract myself from my anxiety, especially since having started creating my own patterns and long-term projects.

At the moment I mostly do stuffed animals - bees and koalas and the like, the patterns not mine and always given credit. But I've also been experimenting with my own ideas - for example I'm in the middle of making a Dream-SMP inspired blanket (check out my instagram, Tumblr and blog if you're interested!) because that's what I'm currently interested in, and I've also made a pattern for a Lovejoy sweater that I'm excited to start working on.

The truth is, though, that I quite recently resigned from my job as a result of not feeling fit to work thanks to my anxiety worsening. And while I am meant to be going to university starting in September, I don't know if I am capable of doing so. And I definitely understand that the chances of my being able to support myself through my blog and these donations alone are very, very slim, but if I am going to defer for another year I need something to do and I also will need to be able to pay for things, such as my prescriptions and knitting materials.

And that's what any donations that I receive will go towards - being able to pay for my medication and also stay on top of the knitting supplies I require to keep my blog running - when I start getting more confident and feel better about my patterns and have raised enough I want to start doing commissions for people too. For example someone sends me a theme for a hat they want and I'll try my best to create a pattern for them based off of that.

There is no pressure at all to donate to me, but any support that you can offer me at all is so very appreciated, I've taken up enough of your time but thank you so much for reading and please consider checking out my blog (https://knittingwithnorbert.com), my socials are all linked on my page and if you feel capable please do think about donating to support me - it really would mean the world.

Freddie 🐸
