What's On My Mind #8

Sep 05, 2021

Hello,

What's On My Mind is a weekly newsletter where I share a variety of subjects, in line with my mission & vision statement, based on my own experiences, and inspired by the stories of others. By doing so I hope to lift a tip of the veil of ignorance that blurs our perception and prevents us from making conscience decisions. Thus, creating awareness and inspiring myself, and others towards individual discovery; growth.

" Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity " - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Mission & Vision Statement
My mission is to raise self-awareness and encourage personal growth.
My vision is an open society with clean air, water and soil ... in my life time.

I hope you find them of any use.

Things you see when slowing down
Nowadays life can be overwhelming. We’re exposed to so much information through so many online and offline channels it can become difficult to filter everything. Life passes in a blur. Have you ever wondered what you would see if you consciously slow down your pace? When you truly unwind, little details will stand out. Beautiful hidden treasures that were impossible to see because of the external noise will reveal themselves to you.

Zen master Haemin Sunim said : " Relationships are similar to campfires".
If we sit too close, we get too hot and can even get burned. And if we sit too far away, we cannot feel the heat. No matter how well you get on with someone, if we get too close, we quickly feel trapped and irritated. In short: when it comes to healthy relationships, balance is key.

Fundamental highlight - Thought
Critical or realistic thinking skills are essential. It allows you to make logical and informed decisions to the best of your ability. Picking up the responsibility to master this skill will enable you to live a autonomous life, learn more about yourself, and utilize those findings to support yourself and others. A great way to overcome native egocentrism, sociocentrism and ignorance.

In my coaching guide, "A Wanderer's Journey - realigning with nature-", I describe 6 different ways to improve this skill. One of them is; Curiosity or having an open. This allows you to see things from a different perspective, thus enriching your life with profound knowledge. All it takes is a conscious effort to ask open-ended questions about the things you see in your everyday life, and you can then invest the time to follow up on these questions.
