Hey all!

So, first of all, I've got great news. I finally figured out the coding for the customization screen! All the placeholder buttons work and it associates everything properly in the script and I'm so fucking proud of it.

The reason I was so hung up on getting the customization screen up and running was because I needed pronoun and name options to have the story functions work properly. The way the screen works is that each button is set to a variable. So the pronouns are [pronouns] and the name is [name]. The way that the text "[name]'s pronouns are [pronouns]" would show up is changed depending on what you select. So I needed the variables to have values otherwise I would just get an error when I would write in the story and test to see that it was working correctly.

It was a struggle and a LONG rabbit hole on imagemaps versus imagebuttons and whether or not the two can occupy a screen together, but ultimately I decided to go with just a plain imagemap since the text input code I found was based in an imagemap and it was the simpler option to do and I didn't want to make things more complex than they already were. And so, after so many days of work and research and trying and deleting code… I did it.

After that, I've decided to take a bit of a break from GUI stuff. Give my brain a break, so to speak. So now I'm working on placeholder sprites and backgrounds to call while I get the story written in! All the basics are there for me to work with, so shiny things like custom text boxes and polished menus aren't high priority at the moment. That's later stage stuff.

So what's next? I'm planning on continuing making placeholder sprites and backgrounds so I can slap them into the game and actually get some visuals with the story. I'll be posting those for members as I get through them! That's all I have for now. Thank you so much for reading and your patience! I can't wait to show off what I get done between now and the next dev log!
