Patience is a Virtue?

Patience is a Virtue?

Oct 16, 2021

But it’s not always something I have. I know for some it’s one of those qualities people think it’s black or white. You either have it or you don’t. In my experience, there are many things in life that are shades of grey. This is one of those. I feel you can have varying levels of it. It depends on the situation, especially. Also mood or person you're with.

For example, I volunteer interacting with the kitties at the shelter. I have a lot of patience with them. I want to help them. Whether they came in as a stray or an owner surrender, they can often be scared. Waiting at the doctor’s, I don’t have patience as much. Even though I am a patient, lol. Probably because, over the years, I’ve had to go on a lot of appointments. I’m currently dealing with stage 4 uterine cancer.

As you can imagine, any appointment can become frustrating when you’re dealing with a long term health issue. More so if they’re running late. Which hasn’t happened with scans & such, thankfully. Not too often with providers themselves. Again, thankfully. Otherwise I get irritable. Making an, already difficult situation, worse.

Are you usually patient, not often or how you feel & react depends on various factors? Do you ever gripe at someone when you’re feeling less than patient? I have but then I feel bad after & apologize. Especially if I just met them. I’m usually pretty easy going & even keeled. That may be my only interaction with them. I want to leave them with a good impression.
