Here's your first Writing Quickie video

Jan 17, 2022

Welp, I finally finished it.

Yeah, there are some things I wish I'd been able to do a bit differently, but this is a prototype. That's what I keep telling myself when the ol' bastard Doubt decides to chime in. The first few of these will be public (free samples, baby!), but once I get the hang of video editing and figure out how to balance my schedule so I have time to do more of it, this will be an exclusive perk for the "Dabbler" tier. Oooh, fancy.

So, a couple of my takeaways from this first project:

  • Editing a two-minute video takes about two months. Of course, I'm exaggerating. This sucker did take me almost an entire day to cobble together, though, and my back is growling at me. It also caused me to fall a wee bit behind in the coaching and editing work. Guess I'm staying up a little later tonight...

  • Having a musician for a husband is a godsend. Narration without music (in an informational video like this, anyway) is ewwie. Well, maybe it's because it's me, but the music totally saved it. Plus, I don't have to pay royalties or use "meh" royalty-free music. Watching him record over the years taught me the basics, so recording the narration wasn't nearly as painful as I'd been expecting. Plus, all the gear I needed was right here. Sweet.

I'll try to get another one finished next weekend, but for now, it's time to catch up on book coaching work. I appreciate anyone who checks this out! It's been simmering on the back burner for a while now, and it's nice to finally see the beginnings of it. I'm trying my best to keep our editing, coaching, and ghostwriting prices as low as possible, and everyone's support here so far helps us to do just that. Thank you, and have a beautiful night!
