March ‘22

.

I’m on the sunlit side

Of your gaze, my

Faults blurred and hidden

By golden light.

I’m on the sunlit side

Of your gaze, your

Enchantress eye brings magic

And forgetfulness.

I’m on the sunlit side

Of your gaze, I blink in the unfamiliar

Brightness and sidle cautiously

Into your warmth.

I turn my eyes from

The coldness,

The shadows,

From anger and scorn,

My ability to disappoint and ruin things

Is cushioned and covered

With soft blankets and fallen blossom.

It is early spring, if we keep our eyes

From the eastern horizon,

If we light candles and brew coffee

Close the curtains at sunset,

The future could be hopeful, love.

I’m on the sunlit side

Of your gaze,

The sap is rising,

Summer races northward as the earth tilts,

I do not wish to

Think of winter today.
