“Anecdotal Evidence”

“Anecdotal Evidence”

Aug 03, 2020

Anecdotal evidence is one’s actual experience. In science, it doesn’t count. Scientists would dismiss my #carnivorediet results as anecdotal, but to me they’re the ONLY results that matter. After 50 years of steady deterioration eating plant-based whole foods, I suddenly switched to #lchf (fall 2018).

Within 2 weeks I began walking without a walker or wheelchair. I began driving soon thereafter. I had been so anemic I could barely leave my bed. My colitis was so severe that I wore a diaper. But within 3 months I was able to drive 5 hours on my own to visit family.

I hadn’t visited my family for a holiday in at least 3 years. In the summer of 2019 I began doing auditions for operas/choruses. I had been trained as a professional singer in my youth, but I hadn’t done an audition in 25 years!

I performed in my first stage show (since the early 90’s) in the fall of 2019. I began teaching again for the first time in years beginning in the Spring of 2019.

The damage I did to my body with a diet heavy in whole grains, high fiber, and high oxalate greens over decades has been slow to heal, but is objectively measured by comparing the number of days in hospitals in 2018 v in the last 12 months.

In 2018, I spent 73 days hospitalized. In the last 12 months, I have had none. I still have colitis, but my flares no longer land me in emergency rooms. Blood tests have shown complete remission of several abnormalities, including chronic macrocytic anemia, CKD, and elevated CRP & ESR. Remarkably, a stress test one year ago found heart valve abnormalities that disappeared a year later.

I have lost 35 lbs and kept it off. I have gone from completely disabled and bedridden to teaching and performing.
