Dom grabbed at the phone. He nearly dropped it twice before he could get it to his ear. His wife stared at him hopefully as he spoke.
"I've been waiting to hear from you. You are calling me back, right? I can be there tomorrow--to-today even. I mean, just tell me what time, I'm there."
"No, Dom, we're full. I told you that the last time."
Dom's whole body practically gave out. His wife looked away.
"Then why are you calling?" Dom asked quietly.
"I thought you might be interested in something else."
Glimmer of hope.
"But I have to warn you that it could be dangerous."
Slight concern.
"What is it? I'll do just about anything right now."
Dom took his wife's hand.
"How many ... How many organs can you do without?"
"Repeat that? Organs? You mean--"
"Yes. Body parts. How many?"
