Poet, writer, critic, translator, speaker, and performer Annie Finch is known for mistressry of poetic rhythm and spellbinding readings of poetry infused with magic. Her books include Eve and Calendars, both shortlisted for the Yale Series of Younger Poets, Spells: New and Selected Poems, (Wesleyan UP), and the epic poem on abortion Among the Goddesses, which received the Sarasvati Award; books, plays, and essays on poetry, meter, feminism, and witchcraft; and the anthology Choice Words: Writers on Abortion. Her poems have appeared onstage at Carnegie Hall and in The Paris Review, New York Times, and Penguin Book of Twentieth-Century American Poetry. Dr. Finch earned a Ph.D at Stanford and has taught widely, lecturing at Berkeley, Harvard, and Oxford. As Poetry Witch she has collaborated with artists in theater, ritual, dance, and music. Dr. Finch offers online and in-person workshops and retreats on poetry, meter, and magic. She travels widely to perform rituals and poetry readings and to offer inspirational talks on the power of rhythm to transform our lives.
