There are some precedents I feel too dangerous. Among the most heinous, are those that can potentially compromise encryption for everyone.
We all want to stop abusers from having the ability to abuse.
But at what cost for Journalism, confidentiality, the world? 🌎
📰 THORN: LOBBYING ENCRYPTION COMPROMISE TECH
Ashton Kutcher helped found "Thorn" with Demi Moore (originally called "DNA") in 2009.
Today, Thorn boasts in the tens of millions of dollars in funding (some mystery donors).
Much of their network of support, is built up of former / current law enforcement. They claim to offer new tools for law enforcement to find illegal material -- sounds noble... but the way it affects all users, leads to many false positives, can cause real harm.
It is simply too dangerous to support.
We can preserve rights if we act together.

AI tech such as this, one of the largest threats to our security, personal autonomy, as humans.
If organizations like this are not held to account, resisted, and rejected, we can expect the same level of lobbying for 24 hour monitoring on / off the internet.

Not only that, talks are already in to detect other types of "crime".
This means potential for not only hash recognition, but AI recognition on top to find files fitting their desired niche.
Transparency / Open source? Appears, absolutely not.
CONCLUSION
What we need to see is that this effort (human rights / privacy) requires constant pushback. Do not consent to dystopian mandated monitoring, on our personal devices.
💡 FACT: Privacy ends the day we stop standing up. ✊😎💻
The day we give up is the day our dignity is on the chopping block.
Biometrics, privatized social credit scores. Anything that can make a profit shall be privatized.
This is why privacy matters today -- be prepared for tomorrow.
If governments fall for this, we can expect them to fall for much more.
