Psychiatric Pup is both a personal blog detailing my journey of raising, training, & living with my Psychiatric Service Dog in Training, as well as a resource of information for Service Dogs, psychiatric health, and dogs in general.
Also, shitposting & memes involving dogs or mental health here and there. Because you need a sense of humor about these things.
About the Blogger: Long history of psychiatric illness, and more recently, chronic pain, fatigue, & dizziness (dysautonomia) resulting from my mental health issues.
In my time of being treated by mental health professionals, I have been diagnosed with or otherwise recognized by a professional as having Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder Type I. I also have suffered from eating disorders, body dysmorphia, as well as drug & alcohol addiction.
After several years of going through various therapists, counselors, & doctors, I worked with a professional who really clicked with me and I finally was diagnosed with what I believe is my only, and all-encompassing, diagnosis: Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which I prefer to call Complex Trauma or Developmental Trauma Disorder.
About the Dogger: 2016 AKC Registered Labrador Retriever, “Warrior”. Black, English/Bench type. Being primarily trained for Psychiatric Alert & Response, but also for medical & mobility.
