Qué Onda Oaxaca es un proyecto local, independiente y 100% oaxaqueño. Nace y se construye aquí mismo, paso a paso, con tiempo, esfuerzo y recursos propios.
Detrás de este proyecto estoy yo, Dary: ingeniero mecatrónico, ayuuk de San Juan Juquila Mixes. Organizo los cineclubes Yëk Uk y Cine Poo, así como el intercambio de idiomas Oaxaca Language Exchange by @luditalk, todos espacios inclusivos y gratuitos para locales y extranjeros. Creo profundamente que aprender y disfrutar no tienen por qué estar peleados.
Cine Poo, en particular, es un espacio que organizo en Atzompa porque entendemos que el cine también debe acercarse a todos. Es un lugar para compartir, para disfrutar y para pensar en colectivo. Yo mismo gestiono, proyecto y difundo con mis propios medios, acompañado por un equipo pequeño formado por mi hermana y amigos. Es un esfuerzo cercano, hecho desde abajo.
En un contexto donde ya existen proyectos similares, muchos suelen quedarse dentro del circuito turístico. La motivación aquí va más allá: construir un puente real entre quienes hacen cultura, fiesta y comunidad en Oaxaca, y las personas que buscan conectar con algo auténtico, sin intermediarios ni filtros.
Este proyecto busca voltear la mirada hacia donde hay talento, ruido y vida, pero no siempre visibilidad. No solo en la ciudad, también en las periferias, en los pueblos, en los espacios que sostienen la cultura desde lo cotidiano.
No hay pretensiones ni curadurías rígidas. Creemos firmemente que un museo o un teatro es igual de importante que una mayordomía, una fiesta patronal o una noche en la cantina con amigos. Todo forma parte de lo que significa vivir y compartir cultura. Y, por encima de todo, creemos que disfrutarlo es un derecho: el derecho a ser feliz.
La idea de este proyecto es generar un impacto positivo que vaya más allá del centro, que alcance las periferias, y que algún día pueda ser útil incluso en mi propio pueblo. Ese es el horizonte, o al menos el intento.
Es un camino en gran parte solitario y con poco apoyo, por lo que cualquier donativo contribuye directamente a que este proyecto siga existiendo y creciendo. Pero también ayudar compartiéndolo o pasando la voz hace una gran diferencia: tu vecino, tu negocio, sus eventos… todos pueden formar parte de este espacio.
Este proyecto sigue en desarrollo. Lo que ves ahora es una versión rápida y funcional, pensada para arrancar y crecer con el tiempo. La plataforma es gratuita y está abierta para todos.

Qué Onda Oaxaca is a local, independent, and 100% Oaxacan project. It is built here, step by step, with personal time, effort, and resources.
Behind this project is me, Dary: a mechatronics engineer, Ayuuk from San Juan Juquila Mixes. I organize the film clubs Yëk Uk and Cine Poo, as well as the language exchange Oaxaca Language Exchange by @luditalk—all inclusive and free spaces for locals and foreigners. I strongly believe that learning and enjoyment should go hand in hand.
Cine Poo, in particular, is a space I organize in Atzompa because we believe cinema should be accessible to everyone. It’s a place to gather, to enjoy, and to think collectively. I manage, project, and promote everything with my own resources, alongside a small team made up of my sister and friends. It’s a grassroots effort.
At a time when similar projects already exist, many tend to remain within the tourist circuit. This project goes beyond that: it aims to build a real bridge between those who create culture and community in Oaxaca, and those who want to connect with something authentic—without filters or intermediaries.
This space seeks to bring visibility to where there is talent, noise, and life, but not always attention. Not only in the city, but also in the outskirts, in towns, and in everyday spaces where culture truly lives.
There are no pretensions or strict curation. We believe that museums and theaters are just as important as a mayordomía, a local festival, or a night at a cantina with friends. All of it is part of living and sharing culture. And above all, we believe that enjoying it is a right—the right to be happy.
The goal of this project is to create a positive impact beyond the city center, reaching the outskirts, and hopefully one day being useful even in my own hometown. That’s the vision—or at least the attempt.
This is largely a solitary path with limited support, so any donation directly helps keep this project alive and growing. But sharing it or spreading the word also makes a huge difference: your neighbor, your business, your local events… all can be part of this space.
This project is still in development. What you see now is a fast, functional version meant to grow over time. The platform is free and open to everyone.
