How long have you been playing D&D and how did you get into it / get started?

I’ve been playing D&D now for around 5 years. I was introduced to the hobby through some friends at uni and then dived into as much of it as I could find. I found a group at a local hobby shop and quickly started my own homebrew games.

Tell us about your favourite PC you’ve played and what made it so great.

My favourite character was a wizard named Atash Rane who could only cast illusion magic and was cursed to never age. I loved the problem solving and solutions I was able to come up with to help the party aided by the illusions. Atash was also able to dethrone a prince by beating him at chess, but that is a tale for another day.

If you DM, what’s your best tip for future DM’s out there? (Or equivalent for a player)

As a DM I have two tips:

• Stop thinking the perfect time to DM will arrive. The only way to get better is to DM. I promise the players will just be glad to be in a game.

• Listen to the players at the table as they plan and try to figure out problems. It’s ok to change the situation in front of them slightly if their solution is cooler than the problem. Remember there is a whole heap of them and only one of you, cut corners where you can.

What’s one epic moment you can recall from one of your games?

Each campaign I have been a part of has had its share of epic moments. In saying that, the one that jumps to mind is wrestling with a would be assassin on the edge of a riverbed as a horde of stampeding dinosaurs threatened to trample whichever one of us was pushed over the edge. Nothing like the snapping jaws of an awaiting T-Rex to beg for a natural 20.
