Get to the heart of writing.

Get to the heart of writing.

You have identified your subject by writing your introduction, you know where you want to come from because you have written the first draft of your conclusion. Now, you have to unfold your development! Write out your introduction, write my essay then get started, following your blueprint.

Build your parts

Between the different pieces of the essay, it is necessary to “oil the cogs” by using logical connectors and transitions, to make the reading more fluid and to unfold the reasoning logically. You can jot them down on your blueprint if that helps.

Transitions are used to move from one part to another, from one paragraph to another, from one idea to another. It suffices then to recall the previous idea by summarizing it in the most important, and to announce the one which arrives by making a logical connection.

Logical connectors serve as a transition within paragraphs themselves and make it possible to highlight logical relationships: cause and effect, opposition, nuance, juxtaposition ...

Examples: so, indeed, insofar as, that is, as underlined, also, therefore, despite, however, certainly, ultimately...

For the subject “Is the fall in the cost of labor the solution to French unemployment?” problematized like this: "To what extent acting on the cost of labor could positively serve the reduction of unemployment and, premium essay is this the only action to be favored?" and with the following plan:

This is an observation made at a time T and which provides us with an argument in favor of lowering the cost of labor to reduce unemployment. One could oppose the fact that it is an observation anchored in a precise time and place, and probably not generalizable. But, it turns out that this is an approach that has been validated theoretically!

The parts will have to be linked naturally thanks to the transitions and logical connectors. Each part is always built as follows:

  • Part introduction

  • 3 or 4 argued paragraphs

  • Game conclusion

You must always introduce your overall theme, back it up with reasoned ideas which are themselves supported by examples, and recap the conclusions you have reached by following your reasoning.

Build a paragraph

The parts are therefore composed of argumentative paragraphs, and they must follow the following structure:

  • Introduction/announcement of the idea

  • Idea development

  • Idea illustration

  • Deduction / conclusion

The announcement of the idea must be done using a logical connector to create the link from the previous idea. You should state the general idea precisely, in one or two sentences.

Then, you will develop your point, giving the necessary details. It is necessary to show why this idea is relevant, to provide details, to characterize it.

To support this idea, you will need to give at least one concrete example, which allows you to make your idea credible by showing it concretely to the reader. You can also mention an example that would qualify the idea or show its limits. But in this case, it must be specified, otherwise, you could be criticized for choosing your examples badly.

Then you have to make a synthesis of this argumentation, which confirms your idea stated at the beginning and which makes it stronger. It should not be a simple repetition of the announcement of the idea, otherwise, the argument does not advance and we go in circles. It is good to relate the argument to the issue at this point.

An essay is above all a demonstration of ideas, don't forget that! And you have to fit into these “boxes” to respond to the exercise, don't try to be original in terms of the method, it never pays.

Good advice

Beyond the substance of your ideas, which you must acquire by working, and this fixed structure, which must be respected, other elements are taken into account by the corrector. Keep them in mind!

On Form :

  • Hand in a clean assignment. Silly, but a dirty copy, with spots and unreadable writing, will rarely get a very good rating.

  • Air your homework! The layout of your text gives indications of the structure of your argument. You have to skip 2 lines between the introduction and the first part, the second and the third, and between the third and the conclusion. You have to skip a line between the sub-parts, start all your sub-parts as well as the introduction and conclusion with a paragraph. Finally, we must go to the line as soon as you change “stage” within a paragraph (in the introduction, between the beginning and the announcement of the subject, the announcement of the subject and the issue, the issue and the plan; in the parts, between the announcement of the idea and the development, etc.).

  • But do not put an apparent plan, do not include in your copy the 1, 1.1, and others. Save this for the draft.

  • Do not forget the punctuation, put commas, make short sentences, otherwise, your corrector will suffocate!

  • Banish convoluted sentences, get to the point.

  • Pay attention to your spelling and syntax, writing riddled with mistakes will not be rated well.

  • Stay in a sustained language register, avoid familiarity and use the correct vocabulary.

On the background :

  • Don't say “I”, you don't have to get personally involved as an individual, even if it's your thought that you are expressing.

  • The essay is not an exercise in style, you should be demonstrative and objective as much as possible.

  • Do not paraphrase either the subject or the documents available to you. It is a question here of explaining, analyzing, demonstrating.

  • You have to delimit your words, do not go all over the place, and do not make too general a speech.

  • Be precise: if you quote, it is not an approximation, if you speak of quantitative elements, quote figures, if you mention a period, give dates.

And finally, read it again! Always leave sometime in the end to proofread yourself, this will prevent you from not finishing your assignment and you can correct potential errors in reasoning and spelling mistakes.

Conclusion

The essay is a difficult exercise because it is very coded, and you must respect these codes while reinvesting your knowledge in this classic structure. But this is how you will learn to build an argumentation, logical reasoning, which will always be very useful to you afterward!
