Rise Of Zero: XP System and Death Slots

Jan 04, 2022

What is an XP System and why does it matter for my character?

The XP system is the amount of experience points your character has gain to allow them to obtain a goal and advance to the next level of gameplay. Without experience points, your character would always remain a level zero. So, getting experience in game is very important to your character by fighting battles, completing quests, and so forth to achieve greatness.

How does the XP system in Rise Of Zero work?

At level zero, your character needs to obtain 50 experience points before they can advance to level one. Every level thereafter is just a matter of taking your previous needed experience points number and multiplying that by 2 for the next level. So, from level zero to level one, its 50 needed XP, from level one to level two, its 100 needed XP, and so on and so forth.

What are Death Slots and why does it matter for my character?

Indicated by four circles on your character sheet, a death slot is filled in when your character's health falls to zero. In most pen and paper RPGs, you only have three death slots and after your character's health falls to zero a fourth time, they permanently die. After that you must create a new character. However, in Rise Of Zero, your health is allowed to fall to zero 4 times and on the fifth time falling to zero is when your character dies and you must create a new one.
