Stuff of cemeteries

Stuff of cemeteries

Jul 19, 2022

I've become fascinated by the ancient Stoic philosophers. Their simple and productive approach to life is a wonderful example I find myself agreeing with and following very often.

Marcus Aurelius was a wonderful example of dedication to education and self-improvement. His journey from life as a slave in the early Roman Empire to Roman Emperor is astounding.

Thanks to modern Stoic reviver Ryan Holiday, the philosophy remains relevant and popular even today.

One of the subtle elements of Stoicism is to be reminded of our mortality. If we keep in mind that our time is limited, it helps us to stay focused and keep working.

Today's poem is a memento mori like those Renaissance paintings with a death skull at their heart.

Know our journey is leading us to the same place, so keep following your light, doing the work you love and making the most of the moment.
