https://bit.ly/3JgRFUn - Indio, California, is located along the San Andreas Fault, and today we hike along the fault at the Indio Badlands, a place where the twisted and tortured earth has been thrust upward, folded, and eroded, creating some very interesting rock formations to ponder over and look at with awe (at least I did). Luckily for me, the BIG ONE didn't happen while I was there, so I live to share it with you. If you'd like to take a tour of exactly where the fault line crosses through the towns and areas in Southern California, click the link below, it really is quite fascinating. https://stormhighway.com/san-andreas-fault/desert-hot-springs-coachella-valley.php I'd also highly encourage you to read up more about the area around the Salton Sea. It's amazingly volcanic and quite active, with bubbling mud, geothermal plants, and volcanoes. A fascinating place indeed, and on top of all that, we have Bombay Beach, where dystopian artwork abounds and grows larger every year. After my visit with friends at FOY, one of them wrote this poem about me, which I have to agree applies to so many of us modern day nomads.

The Butterfly

As we sit, our faces toward the sun,

A butterfly flits in and lands nearby.

She warms her wings and lingers just a moment;

Then she smiles, and flit! away she flies.

We never know just when she’ll come, or why hello’s so quickly followed by goodbye.

And we, the flowers rooted here remain

Until the day that she flits by again.

I have a few other hikes along the San Andreas Fault in my CA playlist, I hope you'll take a look at them, I also share links in the video and at the end. Enjoy 😁
